Events Calendar 2-4 “Have you ever noticed that Chairman’s 5-6 anybody driving Cable slower than you is an idiot, and

Ales of the UK 7 anyone going faster than you

is a maniac?” GOF Flyer 8 I am REALLY tired of this cold, wet Classifieds George Carlin 9-10 spring!!!

From the Editor It has been a darn cold & rainy spring so far, and I’m about fed up with it! I gathered both the TD & B from winter storage at the beginning of April and have only had them out for very short sojourns, fun but cold...the calendar is heating up so now we wait on the weather. You’ll see on pages 2-4 we have a busy year ahead, full of old favorites and two new nautical events. In early August we will be heading to Newburyport for a Merrimack River cruise and a visit to the Maritime Museum followed by lunch, while in October we will return to the MS Mt. Washington for a fall foliage cruise and champagne brunch. Don’t forget GOF 104 in Plymouth, MA June 19th-23rd, the organizers have put together a nice schedule for what looks like a great time! I’ve heard rumors that the fall GOF will be in Burlington, VT but no additional information yet. August brings us Andrew Bass’s favorite weekend, MG Day at Larz Anderson on August 17th, followed by our annual lobster run to Newick’s on the 18th...a field full of MGs followed the next day by lobsters dripping with butter, what could be better!! Safety Fast!

Game of Stones Pale Ale

Wadworth has been beer in the beautiful market town of Devizes, in Wiltshire, since 1875. Originally founded by Henry Alfred Wadworth, the business passed to his founding partner John Smith Bartholomew and is now in the fourth generation of ownership by the Bartholomew family. Living and breathing the vision of founder Henry Alfred Wadworth Bartholomew, the brewery today still has recogniza- ble characteristics from it’s 1875 predecessor including the Shire horses, Monty, Max, And Archie, delivering beer to Devizes’ pubs. The present brewery was completed in 1885 over the site of a small sweet water well a hundred yards from the original brewery, enhancing the beers’ distinctive “Wadworth” flavor. A typical brewery at the time, the raw ingredients were lifted to the top of the tower and gravity simply com- bined these ingredients through the various stages of the brewing process. Some of the original equipment installed in 1875 is still being used today. Our stunning Victorian tower brewery is a landmark in the center of Devizes and attracts visitors from across the world. The brewery site combines the traditions of craft beer and modern production techniques and systems. Pub signs are still hand painted in our sign shop and the Wadworth Shire horses still deliver daily around the town. Our skills and craft are important to us and this is all backed up by a state of the art Steinecker brew house ensuring that our beers are the highest quality and consisten- cy possible. Wadworth Brewery sits at heart of Wiltshire, the mysterious land of stone circles and ritual. We are a stone’s throw from Stonehenge, and we’ve brewed this sessionable golden ale to celebrate our heritage. A thirst quenching and truly satisfying golden ale with a hidden depth of flavor. Spicy, tangy aromas are met with earthy tones on the palate. Full flavored, but with a clean finish. This beer is built on a foundation of wheat, Pale Ale and Caragold, topped off with Challenger, Cascade and Styrian Goldings hops.
