2017 SCHEDULE Action starts at 2 p.m. Friday with eight field events taking place. The evening will conclude Friday with running of Indoor the 5,000 meters and a 3,000 meter steeplechase. Saturday’s schedule starts at 10 a.m. with field events and running January events fire off at 10:45. Bruckner Breaks School Record New Mexico Collegiate Classic Albuquerque, N.M. • Freshman Elena Bruckner came to Texas as the No. 1 throwing recruit in the nation and showed her potential at Armory Track Invitational New York, N.Y. the 90th Clyde Littlefield by taking down the school record in the discus. 10-11 Tyson Invitational Fayetteville, Ark. • Bruckner muscled the disc out to a distance of 54.64 meters (179-4) on her second attempt to better the previous Husky Classic Seattle, Wash. 18 Alex Wilson Invitational Notre Dame, Ind. record of 177-7. 24-25 Big 12 Championship Men 1st; Women 2nd • The discus record, set by Laura Messner in 1981, was the oldest women’s school record still standing. Messner set her mark at Texas Relays as well. Now the oldest women’s school record is the 1500m and , but set in March 1986. Outdoor Burton Continues to Roll March • Freshman hurdler Rushelle Burton won silver at the 2016 IAAF World Junior Championships for Jamaica and has 17-18 UTSA Invitational San Antonio, Texas been posting fast times in her first year as a Longhorn. 24-25 Victor Lopez Classic Houston, Texas • Burton crossed the line at the Texas Relays in 12.80 seconds to take second place in the 100m hurdles. Instead, Worley 8-11 NCAA Championships Eugene, Ore. ranks No. 11 all-time in U.S. history with his mark. April 12 Gleb Dudarev Kansas Throws • Texas had a complete team effort in the win, scoring points in all but 3 of the 19 events. April 19 April 26 May 3 Texas Rakes in Big 12 Awards May 10 • The Longhorns had a strong showing at the Big 12 Indoor Championship for both the men and women that resulted in Texas winning 3 of the 6 conference’s postseason awards. Women • Head Coach Mario Sategna was named the Men’s Head Coach of the Year by his peers for the 2nd time.
