MILEPOSTSWEST A Newsletter for MTA Metro-North Railroad Customers September – October 2015 New NJ TRANSIT Fares Effective October 1 Photo: Emily Moser A NJ TRANSIT fare increase set for Thursday, October 1, will have no impact on Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Line customers (except those traveling from Suffern) who currently commute to Hoboken Terminal. However, customers who transfer to NJ TRANSIT service at Secaucus Junction for Penn Station‑NY will see slight increases in their monthly fares of: a $6 increase for Port Jervis customers and a $4 increase for Pascack Valley customers. Additionally, fares for our “Train to the Game®” Meadowlands service will also increase by 25¢ for the one‑way fare and by 50¢ for the round‑trip fare. To make room for this “addition,” the 1:13 PM train to Middletown now departs Hoboken at 12:42 PM (Penn Station‑NY at 12:37 PM). • On the Pascack Valley Line a new late night weekday train now departs Hoboken at 11:13 PM (Penn Station‑NY at 11:06 PM), arriving in Spring Valley at 12:23 AM. This train operates 30 minutes later and replaces the 10:42 PM train from Hoboken (10:35 PM from Penn Station‑NY). Due to NJ TRANSIT’s decision, the last outbound weekday train (departing Hoboken at 12:45 AM) will no longer operate Monday – Thursday nights. As an alternative, the following late-night services are available: – CoachUSA’s Route 11A to Pearl River, Nanuet and Spring Valley from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan departs at 12:15 AM, arriving at Pearl River Town Center at 1:25 AM, Nanuet Mall at 1:35 AM and Spring Valley Station at 1:47 AM. For more details visit www.coachusa.com. – TappanZEExpress bus service at Tarrytown Station to Nanuet Park & Ride and Spring Valley Station connecting with the 11:47 PM Hudson Line train from Grand Central Terminal. The last Pascack Valley Line inbound weekday train will operate approxi‑ mately 30 minutes later, departing Spring Valley at 12:05 AM. • On both lines, be sure to check for minor adjustments to train times that may affect your commute. New timetables are available at Hoboken Terminal, Penn Station‑NY and Secaucus Junction, or you can view them at njtransit .com and mta.info/mnr. Are You Ready For Some Football? Rockland and Orange County football fans: You can take Metro‑North/NJ TRANSIT to any Jets/Giants game at the Meadowlands Sports Complex from Spring Valley, Nanuet, and Pearl River stations on the Pascack Valley Line as well as from Port Jervis Line stations connecting at Secaucus Junction. Getting to the game: • Purchase your round-trip rail ticket to the Meadowlands Sports Complex Station from NJ TRANSIT. • Visit Metro-North’s West of Hudson schedule for service departing from your boarding station and connecting at Secaucus Junction to the Meadowlands Sports Complex Station. Getting home: • After the game, ride the Meadowlands Rail Line to Secaucus Junction. • Transfer at Secaucus Junction for train service to a Pascack Valley or Port Jervis Line station. And remember: • Monthly commuters to Hoboken and Penn Station-NY can use their monthly ticket to get to the stadium without an additional charge. • On-board fares are higher, so purchase tickets before you board! • For information about West of Hudson ticket discounts visit njtransit .com.
