Türkiye’den Cobitis Genusuna ait dört yeni tür ve bir yeni alttür (Pisces: Ostariophysi: Cobitidae) Özet: Ağız yapısı, suborbital dikenler, lamina circularis, subdorsal pullar, pigmentasyon ve yüzgeç ışınlarının formülü gibi morfolojik karakterlere dayanılarak Tükiye’den Cobitis cinsine ait dört yeni tür (kellei, fahireae, splendens ve puncticulata) ve bir yeni alttür (C. vardarensis kurui) tanımlanmıştır. La especie ha desaparecido de la parte media baja de los ríos de las cuencas del Duero y Ebro especialmente en esta última donde su área de ocupación se ha reducido en los últimos años casi en un 50% según observaciones. En España se estima que la especie ha desaparecido en más del 20% del área ocupada en los últimos diez años y sus poblaciones comienzan a estar fragmentadas lo que parece indicar que pueda pasar a la categoría "En Peligro" en los próximos años. El declive es continuado y las principales causas han sido la introducción de especies exóticas y la degradación del hábitat debido al aumento de infraestructuras hidráulicas y de vertidos agrícolas, industriales y urbanos. LEGISLACIÓN AUTONÓMICA. Catalogada de "interés especial" en el registro de la Fauna Silvestre de Vertebrados de Navarra, Orden Foral 0209/1995, de 13 de febrero. Karyological and Molecular Analysis of Three Endemic Loaches (Actinopterygii: Cobitoidea) from Kor River Basin, Iran

Geiger2 1) Department of Biology, College of Sciences, Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran 2) Zoological Research Museum Alexander Koenig, Leibniz Institute for Animal Biodiversity, Adenauerallee, Germany ABSTRACT This study provides new data on chromosomal characteristics and DNA barcoding of three endemic loaches of Iran: spiny southern loach Cobitis linea (Heckel, 1847), Persian stream loach Oxynoemacheilus persa (Heckel, 1848) and Tongiorgi stream loach Oxynoemacheilus tongiorgii (Nalbant & Bianco, 1998). The chromosomes of these fishes were investigated by examining metaphase chromosome spreads obtained from epithelial gill and kidney cells. The diploid chromosome numbers of all three species were 2n=50. The karyotypes of C. linea consisted of 4M + 40SM + 6ST, NF=94; of O. persa by 20M + 22SM + 8ST, NF=90 and of O. tongiorgii by 18M + 24SM + 8ST, NF= 92. Sex chromosomes were cytologically indistinguishable in these loaches. Maximum likelihood-based estimation of the phylogenetic relationships based on the COI barcode region clearly separates the three Iranian loach species of the Kor River basin. All species distinguished by morphological characters were recovered as monophyletic clades by the COI barcodes. The obtained results could be used for population studies,Archive management and conservatio n programs.of SID Key words: Loaches; Phylogenetic relationships; COI barcode region; Idiogram; Iran INTRODUCTION The confirmed freshwater ichthyofauna of Iran are represented by 202 species in 104 genera, 28 families, 17 orders and 3 classes found in 19 different basins [1]. -

After two previous meetings (the first in Brno in 1999 and second in Olsztyn in 2002), the third conference took place in Šibenik, Croatia, in 2006. The continuing interest of the some 50 participants from Europe and Asia suggests that the problem of loaches of the genus Cobitis and related genera is still interesting and attractive. At each Cobitis conference, alongside more experienced scientists that have already accomplished a great deal in revealing the biology of loaches, new, younger researchers were amazed with this group of fish and continue to investigate them. Certainly, one could ask why similar topical activities, such as those pertaining to Chondrostoma, Barbus, or Gobio, ended after one or two meetings. The answer is that the scientific importance of the problem of loaches is distinctly wider, more complex, and far from being exhausted. In Europe, intense investigations into this topic have been underway for not longer than ten years or so, and the application of genetical and karyological methods has induced substantial changes into the previous taxonomy and systematics of the loaches. The polyploidy of some taxa, the atypical reproduction and the ensuing presence of hybrid complexes within the ranges of ‘pure’ species present an interesting and important ‘natural experimental base’. -

Two species, namely C. keyvani and C. faridpaki had been already described from this distribution range. However, previous study revealed that C. keyvani is a junior synonym of C. faridpaki, therefore populations of the eastern part of the Sefid River are C. faridpaki and those of the western part of this basin represent an undescribed species misidentified as C. keyvani in previous studies. Here we describe and compare it with other species of this genus from Iran based on morphological and molecular (COI barcode region) characters. The cyprinid freshwater fish, Pachychilon macedonicum (Steindachner, 1892), is an endemic species in the Balkan Peninsula and has a restricted distribution in Greece. Here, we report new records of the species out of its known natural range, namely at the Mpogdanas Stream (drainage area of lakes Koronia-Volvi, north - ern Greece), which now constitute a new eastern limit for the distribution of the species in southern Balkans. It appears that the new record is related to a human-mediated translocation . Keywords: endemics, south Balkan Peninsula , freshwater fish distribution, eastern limit The cyprinid freshwater fish, Pachychilon mace - It is a small bodied species, with maximum total donicum (Steindachner, 1892), endemic to the south length of 14.5 cm (Vavalidis et al. 2010), easily recog - Balkan Peninsula, is recognized as a rare species, locally nized by having a broad black stripe from the tip of the ‘vulnerable’ (Oikonomidis 1991). It represents a Danubian snout to the middle of the caudal fin base and a vertically cyprinid species that dispersed during the upper Pliocene elongated black blotch at the caudal base (Kottelat and and Pleistocene following three main corridors, including Freyhof 2007). -

The current status of the inland waters ichthyofauna of Turkey is revised, and an updated checklist of the freshwater fishes is presented. A total of 368 fish species live in the inland waters of Turkey. Among these, 3 species are globally extinct, 5 species are extinct in Turkey, 28 species are non-native and 153 species are considered as endemic to Turkey. We recognise pronounced species richness and a high degree of endemism of the Turkish ichthyofauna (41.58%). Orders with the largest numbers of species in the ichthyofauna of Turkey are the Cypriniformes 247 species), Perciformes (43 species), Salmoniformes (21 species), Cyprinodontiformes (15 species), Siluriformes (10 species), Acipenseriformes (8 species) and Clupeiformes (8 species). At the family level, the Cyprinidae has the greatest number of species (188 species; 51.1% of the total species), followed by the Nemacheilidae (39), Salmonidae (21 species), Cobitidae (20 species), Gobiidae (18 species) and Cyprinodontidea (14 species). -

DESCRIPCIÓN Es una pequeña especie bentónica que no supera los 8 cm de longitud total, el cuerpo es cilín• drico y alargado con un pedúnculo caudal delgado y estrecho, la boca es ínfera y presenta tres pa res de barbillas. Tiene una espina suborbitaria bífida eréctil que utiliza para defenderse de sus de predadores. La inserción de la aleta dorsal se sitúa un poco posterior al inicio de las ventrales. Presenta siete radios ramificados en la aleta dorsal y de seis a siete en la anal. No aparece dimor fismo sexual externo. El cuerpo está cubierto con manchas negras que se disponen en 4 filas de las cuales la inferior es la que presenta unas manchas mayores, rectangulares y ventralmente alargadas. BIOLOGÍA Y ECOLOGÍA Existen tres poblaciones pertenecientes a las cuencas del Duero, Ebro y Tajo. Las del Tajo y Due ro parecen estar más emparentadas filogenéticamente. Las de la cuenca del Ebro son escasas y poco abundantes. En la cuenca del Duero hay algunas determinadas poblaciones que presentan un gran número de individuos. A veces existe un desequilibrio de la proporción de sexos en favor de las hembras. La lamprehuela habita las zonas altas y medias de los ríos donde hay gran cantidad de oxígeno disuelto. En la localidad tipo, río Arlanzón (cuenca del Duero), los valores de oxigeno conocidos es 1 taban comprendidos entre 12,27 a 8,85 mgl- . La lamprehuela prefiere vivir en aguas claras con fondos de gravas y rocas.
