There was no significant difference in genetic diversity between 2009 and 2019P ( > 0.05), but the population structure tended to become stronger. Genetic differentiation (FST) among five populations (LX, BB, YB, SF and JA) collected in 2009 was not significant P( > 0.05). However, some populations collected in 2019 were significantly differentiated (P < 0.05), indicating that the population structure has undergone change.

China Abstract.- Thirty microsatellite markers were developed from Leptobotia elongata through 454 sequencing and 27 were polymorphic among 24 individuals, with an average of 9.67 alleles per locus, and the mean observed and expected heterozygosities were 0.81 and 0.79, respectively. Polymorphism information content (PIC) ranged from 0.416 to 0.933. In addition, cross-species amplification was tested for all 30 loci in four other loaches of Cobitidae (Leptobotia microphthalma, Botia superciliaris), and Nemacheilidae (Oreias dabryi, Triplophysa stenura). The results showed a significant high level of transferability (63%–97%), which means the possibility of these markers applying to other related species. The microsatellite loci described here would be useful in conservation of L. elongata and possibly some other species. • Species Diversity of Drifting Fish Eggs in the Yangtze River Using Molecular Identification
Species diversity of drifting fish eggs in the Yangtze River using molecular identification Mingdian Liu*, Dengqiang Wang*, Lei Gao, Huiwu Tian, Shaoping Liu, Daqing Chen and Xinbin Duan Yangtze River Fisheries Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Fishery Science, Wuhan, Hubei, China * These authors contributed equally to this work. ABSTRACT The dam constructions greatly changed the hydrologic conditions in the Yangtze River, and then significantly affected the spawning activities of indigenous river fish. Monitoring the species composition of drifting eggs during spawning season is important for protection issues. In this study, we have sampled drifting fish eggs in nine locations from 2014 to 2016. Eggs were identified using the mitochondrial cyt b gene sequence. A total of 7,933 fish eggs were sequenced successfully and blasted into the NCBI database. Thirty-nine fish species were identified, and were assigned to four families and two orders. Approximately 64% of the species identified, and 67% of the eggs, were classified in the Family Cyprinidae. Abundance and Shannon– Wiener diversity index of species were higher in the main river than in tributaries of the river. However, tributaries may be important spawning grounds for some fish species. The Jaccard's similarity index and river-way distances among sampled stations were negatively correlated suggesting the environment shapes species composition in the sampled spawning grounds. These results showed that mitochondrial DNA sequence is a powerful and effective tool for fish egg

Two species, namely C. keyvani and C. faridpaki had been already described from this distribution range. However, previous study revealed that C. keyvani is a junior synonym of C. faridpaki, therefore populations of the eastern part of the Sefid River are C. faridpaki and those of the western part of this basin represent an undescribed species misidentified as C. keyvani in previous studies. Here we describe and compare it with other species of this genus from Iran based on morphological and molecular (COI barcode region) characters. Keywords: Freshwater fish, Morphology, COI, Spined loach, Sefid River. They are found in Eurasia and Morocco (North Africa) and Southern Asia (Eschmeyer and Fong 2011).
