The Falcons held the lead for the entirety of the first half outside of a 3-2 margin for Southwestern early on, ultimately resulting in a five-point halftime advantage. Both teams shot relatively even throughout the first 20 minutes, with Friends connecting on one more three-pointer and one more shot overall than the Moundbuilders to help make up the difference. The second half posed for some interesting numbers in the box score. The Falcons started the second half off with a quick 6-3 scoring outburst, followed by a few smaller runs to help extend their lead to as many as nine points on multiple occasions. With just under 10 minutes to go in the game, the Builders used a 10-2 run to finally take the lead at 59-57 with six left to play. Friends countered with a 14-2 fury over the course of the next five minutes, seeing themselves go up ten points with just a minute showing on the clock. Southwestern did not go away quietly as their full-court press created fits for the Falcons and allowed them to shrink the deficit down to three with half a minute remaining, but the Falcons continued to hit timely free throws, finally pulling away thanks to a couple of defensive stops down the stretch. In just the second half alone, Friends connected on 24 of 26 free-throw attempts. including 17 straight to close out the contest. They ended the night 28-32 from the charity stripe. As a team, the Moundbuilders put up 30 more shot attempts than the visitors but endured 21 fewer made free throws than their counterpart. Friends finished the game with a 47 percent shooting mark, while Southwestern hit 29-77 shots at 38 percent. Steele Gaston-Chapman (FR/Wichita, Kan.) was the top scorer for the Builders, ending his outing with 21 points and eight assists. Troy Baker (SR/ Maize, Kan.) also cracked double figures with 12, while Zhahidi Robinson (SO/St. Petersburg, Fla.) added 13 off the bench. With the loss, Southwestern drops to 8-6 on the year and 4-4 in the KCAC. The team will remain home for their next game when they host the Ottawa Braves on Monday, January 18th.

MOUNDBUILDER SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE WINFIELD, KANSAS VOLUME LVI ~67 FOREWORD THE MEMORIAL LffiRARY Southwestern College Winfield, KaIlS88 2 TABLE OF CONTENTS Administration and Faculty 10 Organizations and Activities 44 Sports 96 Classes 120 Index 164 3 INTRODUCTION The extra-curricular life at Southwestern this year was exemplified by many new and varied ac tivities. These included the "Black Eye," a Ha waiian minister, changes in the style of eating and new trends in faculty transportation and grooming. At the start of the fall semester, one of the big gest changes to hit the college campus in several years was the "Black Eye" coffee house. The coffee house opened on Halloween night as a retreat for students who felt a need for associa tion or entertainment. Sponsored by Grace Meth odist Church, the "Black Eye" was designed prima rily to meet the needs and desi res of the college audience. In November, Rev. Richard Wong, minister of the Congregational Community Church of Hono lulu, Hawaii, came to the campus. While he was here he was literally surrounded by his audience as he spoke to overflow crowds in Messenger Recital Hall. Rev. Wong's topic material dealt with East meets West and the transition from Oriental culture to Western. Several Southwestern students were al ready acquainted with Rev. Wong as they met him during the Pacific Area seminar. A favorite student pastime in past years has been complaining about the cafeteria service. This year students were so busy trying to figure out how the staff was going to arrange the cafeteria next that they had little time to notice anything else.
