AP produces Olympics-related content in six media types: text, photos, graphics, video, audio and interactives (the latter also known as complex data). Media types are part of content metadata and appear in the <apcm:MediaType> element in AP ATOM; for example: <apcm:MediaType>Photo</apcm:MediaType> For the XPath and possible MediaType values, see Appendix on page 10. ABOUT AP OLYMPIC METADATA TAGS The Associated Press has a collection of Olympics-related metadata tags that are applied to content in all media types. These tags can help you find, organize and publish content pertaining to the Winter Olympics for a specific year such as the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. The tags include: − An event term for content about a specific Olympic games year − Generic Olympic event terms that are applied to content on all Olympics, not just one particular year’s Olympics − Winter Olympics sports terms for content about those sports − Olympics-related organizations for content about the International Olympic Committee − Olympic teams for each country − Participating athletes ABOUT THIS GUIDE This guide provides a list of the Olympic metadata terms and the corresponding IDs, explains how to identify Olympic tags in the AP ATOM format of AP WebFeeds and offers guidance on searching for Olympic content in AP Exchange and AP Newsroom using metadata.
