Cava of Toledo; Or, the Gothic Princess
Author: Augusta Amelia Stuart Title: Cava of Toledo; or, the Gothic Princess Place of publication: London Publisher: Printed at the Minerva-Press, for A. K. Newman and Co. Date of publication: 1812 Edition: 1st ed. Number of volumes: 5 CAVA OF TOLEDO. A ROMANCE. Lane, Darling, and Co. Leadenhall-Street. CAVA OF TOLEDO; OR, The Gothic Princess. A ROMANCE. IN FIVE VOLUMES BY AUGUSTA AMELIA STUART, AUTHOR OF LUDOVICO’S TALE; THE ENGLISH BROTHERS; EXILE OF PORTUGAL, &c. &c. Fierce wars, and faithful loves, And truths severe, in fairy fiction drest. VOL. I. LONDON: PRINTED AT THE Minerva Press, FOR A. K. NEWMAN AND CO. LEADENHALL-STREET. 1812. PREFACE. THE author of the following sheets, struck by the account historians have given of the fall of the Gothic empire in Spain, took the story of Cava for the foundation of a romance: whether she has succeeded or not in rendering it interesting, must be left to her readers to judge. She thinks it, however, necessary to say she has not falsified history; all relating to the war is exact: the real characters she has endeavoured to delineate such as they were; —Rodrigo—count Julian—don Palayo—Abdalesis, the Moor—queen Egilone—Musa—and Tariff, are drawn as the Spanish history represents them. Cava was never heard of from her quitting Spain with her father; of course, her adventures, from that period, are the coinage of the author’s brain. The enchanted palace, which Rodrigo broke into, is mentioned in history. Her fictitious characters she has moulded to her own will; and has found it a much more difficult task than she expected, to write an historical romance, and adhere to the truth, while she endeavoured to embellish it. -

Narrative Quest and Healing Transformation in the Work of Reynolds Price
A VIEW TO A CURE: NARRATIVE QUEST AND HEALING TRANSFORMATION IN THE WORK OF REYNOLDS PRICE Suzanne Shrell Bolt A dissertation submitted to the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in the Department of English. Chapel Hill 2007 Approved by: Joseph M. Flora Fred Hobson Edward Donald Kennedy George S. Lensing Kimball King © 2007 Suzanne Shrell Bolt ALL RIGHTS RESERVED ii ABSTRACT SUZANNE SHRELL BOLT: A View to a Cure: Narrative Quest and Healing Transformation in the Work of Reynolds Price (Under the direction of Joseph M. Flora) Reynolds Price is a writer of serious religious fiction whose unique evangelium reaches beyond orthodox Christianity for some of its deepest expressions. At the heart of his work is a line of radiant, threatened protagonists whom Price calls “sacrificial people. .lambs in whose blood we bathe, whose blood we drink . in the sense of the god whom men kill and eat.” And the nature of such physical and spiritual grace—its swift destruction and occasional, surprising redemption—is one of the most crucial, recurrent mysteries Price explores. As sinner, battler, victim, object of Grace, and vehicle of revelation, Price’s central type surfaces memorably in characters such as Milo Mustian ( A Generous Man ), Todd Eborn ( Love and Work ), Rob Mayfield ( A Great Circle ), Neal Avery ( New Music ), Raphael Noren ( The Tongues of Angels )—even Price’s father, Will ( Clear Pictures and the sketch “Life for Life”). Echoing the dynamics of Jesse Weston’s core grail scene (with its ritualized gesture of identification, reconciliation, spiritual revelation, and healing), each narrative staging resembles a kind of passion play. -
A Microfluidic Investigation of Calcium Oxalate
A MICROFLUIDIC INVESTIGATION OF CALCIUM OXALATE CRYSTALLIZATION By JINNIE ANSTICE A thesis submitted to the Graduate School-Camden Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey In partial fulfillment of the requirements For the degree of Master of Science Graduate Program in Chemistry Written under the direction of Dr. George Kumi And approved by ______________________________ Dr. George Kumi ______________________________ Dr. Alex J. Roche ______________________________ Dr. Hao Zhu Camden, New Jersey May 2018 THESIS ABSTRACT A microfluidic investigation of calcium oxalate crystallization By JINNIE ANSTICE Thesis Director: Dr. George Kumi Calcium oxalate crystallization is widely studied due to the prevalence of this substance in various biomineralization processes, especially the formation of kidney stones. Bulk crystallization studies are a common and popular method for investigating calcium oxalate in particular. Crystallization studies using microfluidic platforms are becoming more popular because of the simplicity of use, cost effectiveness and enhanced control of system variables that these systems offer. Microfluidic systems using a two-input, one- output design results in crystallization at the entrance of the microchannel. This could lead to clogging of the device, and clogging makes it difficult to study crystallization over long lengths of time using these devices. In this study a three-input, three-output microfluidic channel system was designed and a protocol was established that minimized bubble occurrence and synthesized calcium oxalate crystals within the device; crystals were analyzed ex-situ. Equimolar input salt concentrations (CaCl2, K2C2O4) of 20, 40 and 60 mM were used in these experiments. Evidence of crystallization within the device was a line forming in the center channel that grew (i.e., darkened) over time. -
An Aspect-Oriented Approach for the Devel- Opment of Complex Simulation Software
Vol. 9, No. 1, January{February 2010 An Aspect-Oriented Approach for the Devel- opment of Complex Simulation Software Tudor B. Ionescu, Andreas Piater, Walter Scheuermann, and Eckart Laurien, University of Stuttgart, Institute of Nu- clear Technology and Energy Systems, Stuttgart, Germany, Email: fionescu, piater, scheuermann,[email protected] We propose an aspect-oriented approach for the development of simulation software aiming at increasing the flexibility, the rapidity of development, and maintainability of simulation software. The horizontal decomposition method is used to separate the core functionality of the simulation application from simulation-specific cross-cutting concerns like distribution, tool integration, persistence, and fault tolerance. We ana- lyze an existing dispersion simulation application to demonstrate the applicability of our approach and provide a proof of concept in form of the aspect-oriented implemen- tation of two cross-cutting concerns, namely distribution and tool integration. 1 INTRODUCTION In many engineering and natural sciences modeling and simulation play an impor- tant role in understanding the behavior and limitations of certain technical facilities, natural phenomena, and other physical or abstract systems. Simulation software has been developed from the very beginnings of the computer science era and one type of software component, called simulation code, has been established as the standard way of encapsulating a simulator for a certain physical aspect of a real system. A simulation code is a command line executable (often written in FORTRAN) which uses file-based communication with the outside world. Some of the codes also sup- port command line parameters. Codes are usually developed by research institutes and some of them can date back from the late 1970s. -

Red Dwarf” - by Lee Russell
Falling in love with “Red Dwarf” - by Lee Russell It was around 2003 or 2004 when I fell in love with the British sci-fi comedy show “Red Dwarf”. I had been somewhat aware of the series when it launched in 1988 but the external model shots looked so unrealistic that I didn’t bother to try it… what a mistake! My epiphany came late one night after a long session of distance-studying for a degree with the Open University. Feeling very tired and just looking for something to relax with before going to bed, I was suddenly confronted with one of the funniest comedy scenes I had ever seen. That scene was in the Season VIII episode ‘Back in the Red, part 2’. I tuned in just at the moment that Rimmer was using a hammer to test the anaesthetic that he’d applied to his nether regions. I didn’t know the character or the back story that had brought him to that moment, but Chris Barrie’s wonderful acting sucked me in – I was laughing out loud and had suddenly become ‘a Dwarfer’. With one exception, I have loved every series of Red Dwarf, and in this blog I’ll be reflecting on what has made me come to love it so much over the 12 series that have been broadcast to date. For anyone was hasn’t seen Red Dwarf (and if you haven’t, get out there and find a copy now – seriously), the story begins with three of the series’ main characters who have either survived, or are descended from, a radiation accident that occurred three million years ago and killed all of the rest of the crew of the Jupiter Mining Corp ship ‘Red Dwarf’. -

The Man in the Rubber Mask: the Inside Smegging Story of Red Dwarf Pdf, Epub, Ebook
THE MAN IN THE RUBBER MASK: THE INSIDE SMEGGING STORY OF RED DWARF PDF, EPUB, EBOOK Robert Llewellyn | 352 pages | 14 May 2013 | Cornerstone | 9781908717788 | English | London, United Kingdom The Man In The Rubber Mask: The Inside Smegging Story of Red Dwarf PDF Book Sir David Attenborough. At 4 out of 5 stars I would still recommend The Man in the Rubber Mask for any diehard Dwarfer keen to further develop their knowledge of the show. Whether this is because the comedy level has increased from the previous book, or because I have become more comfortable or more at ease with the personalities of these characters, who can really say. Home 1 Books 2. While waiting in line for the ice- cream truck at around 3pm, the people ahead of him suddenly go berserk, violently attacking each other. Robert recalls the long arduous hours spent in makeup before filming could even begin and the various trials and tribulations of wearing a latex foam face mask and all over bodysuit, especially on things like his inability to eat lunch while on set. My review of book one, Dial G for Gravity can be found here. An irrelevant boop I must confess, however the lack of attention to detail rather grates on my nerves. All in all Dial G for Gravity is a pretty good space comedy, with well thought out characters and some interesting alien races in the Gloabons, Andelians and the Kreitians. Four Past Midnight Collection. Luca Rossi writes in a simple, easy to read prose that flows nicely as the characters develop and the story gradually unfolds.
