I am very happy to announce that Heritage Law College had started its operation with effect from 24th August, 2015, and was inaugurated by Hon'ble Mr. Justice Altamas Kabir, former Chief Justice of , in the presence of Dr. Partha Chatterjee, Hon'ble Minister- in-Charge Higher & School Education and Parliamentary Affairs. All our Institutions are doing extremely well and have secured top ranking positions in the country. This time also The Heritage School has been ranked as the Top Co-ed Day School in by ‘Education World’ Magazine. Apart from these, this year TCS Ltd. has selected 508 of our B.Tech and MCA students through campus recruitment, which is a significant number in this part of the country. All this would not have been possible without the excellent synergy between the stakeholders, staff and our faculty members. I wish to express my thanks and appreciation to all the members of The Heritage Family for their commitment and dedication towards fulfilling our vision and wish one and all, the very best for the “New Year 2016”. Tejas Singhania of Class XI represented Kolkata in IIHM Young Chef of India competition which was held in London on 18th September, 2015.

On 24th September, 2015, our School won the Winner's trophy in the finals of All India Frank Anthony Memorial Debate held at Dehradun. Mohit Poddar of Class XII was awarded the Best Speaker prize.

Ayon Banerjee of Class XII became the first student of The Heritage School to achieve AFM (Arena FIDE Master) title. Early this year he won his first title ACM (Arena Candidate Master) and became the first titled player of the School

In the Final round of All INDIA SPELLING COMPETITION, held on 27th April, 2015, Raunak Chawla & Abhroneel Mukherjee of Class X represented the School and stood 5th out of 75 schools who participated in the same.

THS became the overall winner in Mitali-2015 Modern High School for Girls Inter-School Fest for Classes VI-VIII.

8th batch of B.Tech students, HITK, with German students from German Sophie School, Dr. Durgamadhab Misra at the 6-week Summer Wenningson visited our campus from 4th to Research Programme at NJIT, USA. 14th October, 2015.

Talk by Mr. Kevin Coutinho, Windsor-Fellowship, London NI, UK was organized on 3rd September, 2015 by Heritage Business school.

News in Snapshots The Heritage School

Talk-show by ‘Headlines Today’ & ‘AAJTAK’ for the IPL promotion was organized on 7th April, 2015. Eminent Cricketer, Sourav Ganguly and well known Maestro Pt. Bickram Ghosh were the guests.

Investiture Ceremony, organized on 29th April, 2015, was addressed by Mr. Soumen Mitra, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police, Govt of West Bengal as the Chief Guest. Mrs. Smaraki Mohapatra, Excise Commissioner, Excise Directorate Kolkata also interacted with the students during the event.

‘Youthopia 2015’, the Annual School Fest, organized from 8th May to 10th May, 2015, saw participation by more than 20 schools across the city. The overall Winner of the Fest was THS, followed by DPS Ruby Park in the 2nd position and St Xavier’s Collegiate School in the 3rd position.

Model United Nations (MUN) was organized from 19th - 21st June, 2015, 14 schools across the city participated. Schools that performed well were D.P.S Ruby Park, St Xavier’s Collegiate School, La Martiniere for Girls, La Martiniere for Boys, St. James School, Don Bosco, Park Circus and Laksmipat Singhania Academy, D.P.S Ruby Park was awarded the Best Delegation Trophy.

International Yoga Day was celebrated on 22nd June, 2015 at our School.

Heritage Group of Institutions 5 15th School Foundation Day was commemorated on 25th June, 2015.

TOHA- The Alumni Association of THS organized an Art Exhibition ‘CANVART’ on 12th & 13th August, 2015.

Annual Swimming Gala for the Junior and the Senior School was organized on 27th and 28th August, 2015 respectively.

Teachers’ Day Celebration was organized on 4th September, 2015.

Border Security Force (BSF) organized a Defence Exhibition at our School on 16th September, 2015 on the celebration of their Golden Jubilee. BSF's Deputy Inspector General Mr. K.L Sah inaugurated the event.

THS organized ‘Sanglaap 2015’-the Inter-School Literary Fest on Sept. 30, 2015. 13 schools across the city participated. At the end, the overall winner was THS, followed by Birla High School as the First Runners-Up and DPS Ruby Park as the Second Runners-Up. The Chief Guest at the programme was Dr. Hari Sankar Vasudevan, Professor, Department of History, Calcutta University.

THS, in association with Encyclopaedia Britannica organized ‘Know for Sure’ Quiz Competition on 27th November 2015. DPS Ruby Park was declared as the Winner, followed by Modern High School for Girls as the First Runners-Up and The Heritage School, the Second Runners-Up.

Heritage Institute of Technology

"Prologue", the Parliamentary Debate, was organized by Heritage Institute of Technology in association with Presidency University on 11th and 12th April 2015 respectively. About 20 colleges and schools across the country participated in the debate. The Chief Guest for the Prize Distribution Ceremony was Prof. S.K Dey, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. The overall Winner for the grand event was West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences and St. Xavier’s College among the colleges. Among the schools, The Heritage School, Kolkata, bagged the Winner's prize.

MOU was signed on 6th July 2015 with IIEST (formerly known as BESU Shibpur) on Renewable Energy Research and Development.

MOU was signed with University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA, on 21st April 2015 to promote joint research activities in the field of genome-wide and epigenome-wide association studies related to chronic diseases of metabolic origin.

COMPASS 2015 - Freshers’ Induction & Orientation Programme of the B.Tech and MCA students was organized on 3rd August 2015. The Chief Guest at the Orientation Programme was Prof. A.S Kolaskar, Vice- Chancellor, The Neotia University. The programme was also attended by Shri P.R Agarwala, Chairman, Heritage Institute of Technology and Trustee, Kalyan Bharti Trust.

The 15th Foundation Day and the Teachers’ Day Celebration programme were organized on 4th Sept. 2015. It was followed by Awards Ceremony where special awards were given to the Best performing students and Best performing Faculty members in teaching as well as in Outstanding Research accomplishment. Chief Guest at the programme was Dr. K Rangarajan, Director, IIFT Kolkata campus.

On 4th November 2015, Department of Bio- Technology, Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, organized a Seminar on “Science for Nation Building” sponsored by West Bengal State Council of Science & Technology and catalyzed by National Council for Science, Technology & Communication, DST, New Delhi. The seminar was addressed by Dr. Manas Pratim Das, Programme Executive (Science) All India Radio Kolkata, Dr. Ambika C. Inauguration of ‘SWYAMPRABHA’, by The Heritage Academy Photography Club, was organized on 14th August, 2015. The exhibition depicted selected photos on the theme ‘Walk through Kolkata’.

A Two-Day Workshop on Photography was organized by experts from Nikon and Canon on 8th and 9th September, 2015.

Our Social Initiatives Rotaract Club of Heritage Institute of Technology (RC-HITK) was awarded the Best Club out of 30 Rotaract Clubs in Rotaract District 3291 at the Annual District Awards Event of Rotaract District 3291, for the term 2014- 15, held on 28th June, 2015. A total of 16 awards were received by RC HITK (maximum that was ever received since 2009), details of which are as follow:

A tribute to Bharat Ratna Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam

The Heritage Group of Institutions deeply mourns the sad demise of Bharat Ratna Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, who left for his heavenly abode on 27th July, 2015.

He was awarded Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan and Bharat Ratna - the highest civilian honour. Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam made every day of his life count for all its worth, till his very last breath.

His quote "Dream is not what you see in sleep, Dream is something which doesn't let you sleep" is ever cherished in the history of Heritage Group of Institutions, Kolkata.

His absence will be deeply felt.

We humbly offer our heartfelt condolences to his family in this period of extreme grief.
