DAVID CASSIDY As Though You’Ve Always Known THE PICTURE Whenever I have a problem I rush to my room. There I find you waiting To take away my gloom. I tell you why I’m crying What is on my mind. You never think I’m silly You’re much too sweet and kind. Your eyes seem to listen In such a gentle way. As they look right at me The problems fade away. Your sweet smile reassures me DAVID CASSIDY As though you’ve always known. I’m just a lonely girl A LEGACY OF LOVE Who feels so all alone. Though it’s just your picture I’m telling my problems to. I want to thank you David For all the good you do. I know what your picture tells me Is what you’d really say. That is why I love you In a very special way. This manual is designed to assist libraries with setting up such a program. The following teen program complements the children’s program “Step To The Beat…Read”, but is specifically designed for the interests and needs of students in sixth through twelfth grades. It consists of eight weeks of programming (the average summer program) but can be adapted to be a year’s worth of programming if a library so desires. These eight weeks of programming are supported by the Bibliography and the Webography. There are many organizations or groups that can support the weekly programs by providing programming, speakers, and/or materials.

PUB DATE Mar. 73 NOTE 103p. Questionnaire respondents were mainly parents of children ages 2 -6; mothers outnumbered fathers -9:1. Results included the findings that children watched TV an average of three hours a day; this varied little throughout the country and between those viewing Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and those .watching commercial programs. Younger children preferred the former, older the latter. Parents gave overwhelming support to PBS, especially to Sesame Street, Mister Rogers and Electric Company, rating these superior to their commercial competitors. Ninety-six percent of the parents favored changing practices regarding commercials on children's TV, with 40% wanting their elimination, 25% a reduction, and 25% a clustering of commercials at the end of .programs. Annoyance was expressed over toy commercials and the quality of the toys themselves. Most parents felt TV was influential; they thought TV, especially PBS, taught communication skills, enhanced ,social learning and broadened interests. They also felt TV. had too much violence and materialism and that certain programs could foster passivity and anti-social behavior. Negative concerns were greatest among parents whose children watched TV most heavily and who concentrated upon commercial .programs.(AuthOr/PB) FII2,1ED I ROM BEST AVAILABLE CONCERNED PARENTS SPEAK OUT ON CHILDREN'S TELEVISION by F.

  • The Mary Tyler Moore Show" 10 8
INFORMATION TO USERS This material was produced from a microfilm copy of the original document. While the most advanced technological means to photograph and reproduce this document have been used, the quality is heavily dependent upon the quality of the original submitted. The following explanation of techniques is provided to help you understand markings or patterns which may appear on this reproduction. 1. The sign or “target" for pages apparently lacking from the document photographed is “ Missing Page(s)". If it was possible to obtain the missing page{s) or section, they are spliced into the film along with adjacent pages. This may have necessitated cutting thru an image and duplicating adjacent pages to insure you complete continuity. 2. When an image on the film is obliterated with a large round black mark, it is an indication that the photographer suspected that the copy may have moved during exposure and thus cause a blurred image. You will find a good image of the page in die adjacent frame. 3. When a map, drawing or chart, etc., was part of the material being photographed the photographer followed a definite method in “sectioning" the material. It is customary to begin photoing at the upper left hand corner of a large sheet and to continue photoing from left to right .in equal sections with a small overlap. If necessary, sectioning is continued again — beginning below the first row and continuing on until complete. 4. The majority of users indicate that the textual content is of greatest value, however, a somewhat higher quality reproduction could be made from "photographs" if essential to the understanding of the dissertation.

UNIVERSITY OF WYOMING AMERICAN HERITAGE CENTER GUIDE TO ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY RESOURCES Child actress Mary Jane Irving with Bessie Barriscale and Ben Alexander in the 1918 silent film Heart of Rachel. Mary Jane Irving papers, American Heritage Center. Compiled by D. Claudia Thompson and Shaun A. Hayes 2009 PREFACE When the University of Wyoming began collecting the papers of national entertainment figures in the 1970s, it was one of only a handful of repositories actively engaged in the field. Business and industry, science, family history, even print literature were all recognized as legitimate fields of study while prejudice remained against mere entertainment as a source of scholarship. There are two arguments to be made against this narrow vision. In the first place, entertainment is very much an industry. It employs thousands. It requires vast capital expenditure, and it lives or dies on profit. In the second place, popular culture is more universal than any other field. Each individual’s experience is unique, but one common thread running throughout humanity is the desire to be taken out of ourselves, to share with our neighbors some story of humor or adventure. This is the basis for entertainment. The Entertainment Industry collections at the American Heritage Center focus on the twentieth century. During the twentieth century, entertainment in the United States changed radically due to advances in communications technology. The development of radio made it possible for the first time for people on both coasts to listen to a performance simultaneously. The delivery of entertainment thus became immensely cheaper and, at the same time, the fame of individual performers grew.
