[Bead March 15, 1845.] IT is a matter of no small difficulty to give a general view of the Reli- gion of India, and so to arrange the different Deities composing the Hindu Pantheon, as to place before the student of Hindu Mythology a connected and harmonious system of the religious belief of the natives of Hindustan. Brahma for example is styled the Creator of the Universe, and yet almost totally disregarded, not even a single temple being erected to his honour, although creation is one of the chief grounds of religious worship. Vishnu in the system stands forth as the Preserver, but in the eye of his votaries consisting of myriads in every part of the country, the world owes its origin, as well as its preservation to him; and Siva, though systematic writers tell us he is to be regarded as the author of Destruction, and the third God of the Hindu Triad, is worshipped by millions as the Supreme God, the Pre- server as well as the Destroyer, the Imparter equally with the Taker away of life. -

[email protected] ABSTRACT Each temple of the Pallava period has had distinctions in some aspects. Even, from the early apsidal structure of Kūram to the smallest temple of Piravathanesvara of Kanchipuram those all having some distinction indeed. In this kind, the structural temples of Pallavas were erected in the various locations as, on Hills; lands and seashore. Thus, besides the usual lands’ temples, hill temples of them are familiarly known as Olakanesvarar temple at Mamallapuram and Talagirisvarar Temple at Panamalai near Senji a fort Town. We don’t know the origination of hill temples in India, but the temple at Badami by Early Chalukyas on hill is according to the source was earlier to the Pallava hill Temples. However the temple erected on the top of hills was became common but the temple at sea shore is obviously a conceptual creative thought of Pallavas which evidenced by through their plan execution and the aesthetic value of the location. Divisional Charts by Hank Friedman Part One: What Are Divisional Charts? Divisional charts are charts that are created by dividing each sign into a number of sections, and then assigning a sign to each slice, and then placing planets into a new chart based upon which sign they occupy in the section. For example, the most important and most widely used divisional chart is called the Navamsha. Nava means nine, and so each sign is divided into nine sections. In the above diagram, the 30o of Aries is divided into 9 sections, starting with the sign Aries itself. Each wedge is 30o ÷ 9 = 3o 20' of arc. For example, if any planet in a birth chart is at 4o of Aries, it will be in the Taurus slice of the 9 sections, and that planet will be placed in Taurus in the Navamsha chart. In Vedic astrology, many divisions are used, each to indicate specific themes in a person's life. Divisional charts are also called Varga charts, Amsha charts, sub-charts, and D-charts. Part Two: The Most Commonly Used Divisional Charts. 1. The Navamsha D9 (9 sections) has many uses, but is most often used to indicate the events and tone of ones partner and their relationship with them. [Reminder on the Vedic approach: if a planet is poorly placed in a divisional chart, then during its dasa, something becomes amiss. For the Navamsha, it could be that there are conflicts with the spouse, or it might mean that there is not enough time spent with the spouse, or that the Divisional Charts Page 1 spouse is wrestling with difficulties of some sort in their own lives. -

HINDU CASTES AND SECTS. PREF A.CE. IN the last edition of my" Commentaries on Hindu Law" I devoted a chapter to the Hindn Caste System which attracted the attention of the Publishers, and they suggested that the subject might well be expanded so as to be brought out as a separate volume. They suggested also that, in order to make the book complete, I should give an account not only of the Castes, but also of the important Hindu Sects, some of which are practically so many ""new Castes. As I had heen already engaged in writing a book about the hisfury and philosophy of religions, the prp posal, so far as the sects were concerned, was welcome indeed. About the Castes I felt very considerable diffidence; but it seemed to me that, in a town like Calcutta, where there are men from every part of India, it might not be quite impossible to collect the necessary information. When, however, I actually commenced my enquiries, then I fully realised the difficulty of my task. The original information contained in this work has been derived from a very large number of Hindn gentlemen hailing from different parts of India. I here iv PRBFACK. gratefully acknowledge the kindness that they have shown in according to me their assistance. I feel very ;trongly inclined to insert in this book a list of their names. But the publication of snch a list is not de sirable for more reasons than one. To begin with, such a list would be necessarily too long to be conveniently included. -

Abstract Heritage and landscape development may take place within the heritage assemble procedure. The study presents a case of Stone heritage, characterized by an important intangible Vedic chanting heritage which again linked to the seashore forest and Pallava temple architecture. The purpose is to search diverse physiognomies of what opportunity exists in natural context and its playing role with the built heritage and eco-tourism. The methodology includes an extensive literature review of previous texts and collecting key factors out of those literary and pictorial data for historical evidence proved analysis. The results developed from a scientific approach over such case where ethnology, ancient technology and architectural style might have lost its authenticity and integrity for robust deforestation of associated garden heritage over different courses of time just because of the absence of boundary and buffer zone concept. -
Pallav Architecture
PALLAV ARCHITECTURE The great Pallavas of Kanchi rose to power in the latter of the sixth century. Their coming marks an important epoch in the history of south Indian architecture. Politically and Geographically they dominated the southern region continuously until the ninth century A.D. Mahendravarman I (C. 580 – 630 A.D) inherited from his father SimhaVisnu a vast empire extending from the river pennaras far as the Kaveri. The First rock-cut architecture of Mahendra Varman I was the Laksitayatana Trimurti cave temple at Mandagapattu, hewn out of granite. The inscription in this cave states: “This brick less, timber less, metal less and mortar less abode of laksita was caused to be made by king Vicitracitta for Brahma, Isvara and Vishnu. King Mahendra caused nine temples, similar to the Laksitayatana cave temple Mandagapattu, to be excavated, they are:- The Pancha Pandava cave at Pallavaram the Rudravalisvaram or cave temple no. 2 at Mamandur. The Kalmandapam at Kuranganilmuttam the vasantesvara or the larger cave temple at vallam. The Mahendra Visnugriha at Mahendravadi the Visnu cave temple at Mamandur the Lalitankura Pallavesuaragriha (upper cave) at Tiruchirapalli. The Satrumalles Varalaya at Dalvanur and the Avinabhajana Pallavesvara Griha at Siyamangalam. These cave temples imitated the interiors of structural buildings made out of more perishable material like wood. The mandapa is divided into the Mukha and ardha mandapa. Under the patronage of the successors of Mahendravraman I, namely Nararsimhavarman II Rajasimha a series of cave temples were excavated. Since they followMahendra’s style rather closely, they are designated as belonging to the post-mahendra style.
