  • La Prima Edizione Della Tradizionale Gara Di Marcia Coppa Città Di Sesto
    La prima edizione della tradizionale gara di marcia Coppa Città di Sesto San Giovanni venne disputata, sulla distanza di 25 chilometri, il primo maggio del 1957 e venne vinta dal campione olimpionico Pino Dordoni. Sulle strade di Sesto per 52 anni hanno lottato i campioni che hanno scritto la storia di questa specialità: l’albo d’oro della gara è un lungo elenco di medaglie olimpiche, mondiali e continentali, provenienti da tutte le parti del mondo. Non sono mancati i campioni di casa, Raffaello Ducceschi negli anni 80, seguito poi da Alessandro Gandellini negli anni 90, entrambi olimpionici, per anni tra i migliori al mondo. Le grandi medaglie per i campioni di casa son arrivate con Ivano Brugnetti con l’Oro ai Mondiali del 1999 e alle Olimpiadi nel 2004. Per le donne invece la prima edizione ufficiale è stata quella del 1980, vinta sulla distanza dei 5 Km da Giuliana Salce. A dir il vero però erano già due anni che gareggiavano le donne, la prima edizione sperimentale fu nel 1978 sui 3 km, solo atlete italiane, di fatto una gara giovanile perché in italia allora non c’erano atlete senior. Era il primo anno che le donne gareggiavano in Italia nella marcia. In altri paesi lo facevano già da quasi 70 anni ma la marcia femminile non era mai stata riconosciuta. Da Sesto si sparse la voce, in Italia e all’estero: a Milano le donne han cominciato a marciare! L’anno dopo il movimento si era affermato e si provò con una edizione internazionale, sempre sperimentale. Vennero le campionesse svizzere e alcune atlete tedesche.
