Environmental Report 2015 Interim Edition Contents Editorial ENVIRONMENTAL REPORT 2015 INTERIM EDITION CONTENTS EDITORIAL PUBLISHER’S DETAILS AND CREDITS 2 Ladies and Gentlemen, EDITORIAL 3 2015 was a great success for us in business terms and particularly with regard to the implementation of our long-term environmental strategy. We have taken great steps COMPANY PORTRAIT 4 forward in reaching our target of operating one of the lowest-emission cruise fleets in the world. Among the milestones in this progress are the successful certification of the ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT 5 Environmental Management system of the Mein Schiff ® fleet in accordance with the international ISO 14001 standard and the naming ceremony of Mein Schiff 4. Both of these EMISSIONS 6 – 7 achievements form part of the package of measures which, with the newbuilds to be completed by 2019, is set to provide us with a fleet of six ships all no more than five years WASTE 8 old and among the most energy-efficient and with the lowest level of exhaust emissions on the oceans of this world. For all newbuilds we are constantly examining possible technical BIODIVERSITY 9 options and innovations to advance the environmental technologies. WATER 10 The basis of our progress is the commitment of the employees on shore and the crew on board the vessels. To secure and extend this commitment, we rely on informa tion and NEWBUILDS 11 the creation of awareness for environmental topics. In the reporting year, therefore, we have further significantly extended the range of information on environmental topics on the COMMITMENT 12 Intranet. We have also conducted a compulsory training course for all employees in the shore locations. Here we included issues such as environmentally conscious conduct, ENVIRONMENTAL TARGETS 13 – 14 saving electricity and resources as well as the company guidelines. FURTHER INFORMATION 15 These topics also feature intensively in the contact with our guests and other companies. As we use innovative environmental technologies in our newbuild vessels, it is repeatedly a matter of performing pioneering work and correctly positioning the new, often extremely complex technical solutions. One example of this is the educational work that our Environmental Officers have taken on, because ports and port authorities are often not familiar with the new exhaust gas systems. Once again, we have set ourselves clear targets for the current year: a further reduction in PUBLISHER’S DETAILS fuel consumption, fewer CO² and pollutant emissions and an intensified dialogue with suppliers for a more sustainable supply chain. This interim environmental report, which is AND CREDITS published at regular intervals and produced to strict environmental standards in a climate- neutral process, will explain the basis on which we are tackling these challenges. Later this year, we celebrate the 50th anni- versary of the keel-laying of the Sunward, the vessel that started the era of the modern cruise industry in 1966. Over the years, we have seen an incredible improvement in what cruise ships can offer passengers. The vessels are becoming more and more advanced as regards both maritime technology and passenger experience. The cruise industry is often seen as leading when it comes to implementing new technology and to be con- stantly striving to find better solutions.

With our new arrival, we have again set the focus on measures aimed at environmental protection. Just like our other new- builds, the features of this ship include outstanding energy-effi ciency and a comprehen- sive system of exhaust gas treatment. To date we are the only cruise company in the world to have consciously decided to not simply operate these exhaust gas treatment systems inside the special emission control areas according to the regulations. As we believe environmental protection is not subject to geographical borders, we deploy the systems on a continuous basis, worldwide and around the clock. In addition to this, we pursued our concept of continuous improvement in environmen- tal protection through numerous activities throughout the reporting year.

PUBLISHER’S DETAILS AND CREDITS 3 EDITORIAL Ladies and Gentlemen, When I took over as Chairwoman of the Management Board of TUI Cruises in October 2014, the topic of environmental protection was at the very top of my agenda. I quickly noticed how soundly the efforts towards sustainability and a careful approach in dealing with the environment are established within the company. This provides the best possible conditions for jointly pursuing the adopted course and officially declaring our ambitious objective at the beginning of this year to operate the world’s lowest-emission fleet of cruise liners. Crucial milestones on our way to this objective are our two newbuild vessels Mein Schiff 3 and Mein Schiff 4, which was christened in Kiel at the beginning of June. In both vessels, maximum energy efficiency as the guiding principle for design, engineering and construction have brought about impressive results.

  • Cruise Ship Locations 4 July 2021
CRUISE SHIP LOCATIONS 4 JULY 2021 Compiled by Mike Pryce, Wellington NZ (Information believed correct at this date. Compiled from various sources and internet AIS, especially www.cruisemapper.com. Excludes ferries and cruise ferries. Many cruise ships have been in “warm” lay-up, when they have periodically moved from their berths or anchorages and gone for short voyages locally to give their engines and equipment “a run”, and including production of freshwater, before returning to lay-up. Ships at anchor periodically need to berth to take onboard fuel, food, provisions and other supplies. Some inter-ship crew transfers at sea are being made, outside port limits. Many cruise ships have been in lay-up for over a year, as the initial “pause” has been continually extended due to more Covid-19 outbreaks, and many financial assumptions made on the expectation of an initial two-months lockdown needed reviewing. This has resulted in many recent sales of older ships, and limited cruising in the Mediterranean and Europe, where these areas are being affected by sporadic outbreaks in Covid-19 infections. The largest concentration of laid-up cruise ships is on the Bahamas Banks (east of Miami and south of Freeport) A large number of cruise ships are anchored off the south coast of England, west of Southampton. Another large group are anchored in the South China Sea, NE of Singapore. With the northern summer approaching, many cruise ships have started short cruises, or “cruises to nowhere” in Europe, North America and Caribbean, with few or no port calls, encouraged by Covid-19 vaccinations.
