Over 10,500 names are treated including 6,793 valid species and subspecies (with 1,907 primary synonyms), 1,271 genera and subgenera (with 393 primary synonyms), 93 families and 38 superfamilies. Nomenclatural and taxonomic problems are reviewed in detail, and many resolved. Detailed notes and references are provided where necessary. The constitution of a large number of families and superfamilies is discussed in detail, with the positions of some taxa rearranged in an attempt to form a stable base for future taxonomic studies. This is the first time the nomenclature of any large group of decapod crustaceans has been examined in such detail. New species include Osachila valdesensis, Rochinia boschii, Romaleon parspinosus, Panopeus piramidensis, and Ocypode vericoncava. Chaceon peruvianus and Proterocarcinus latus are also reported from the unit, in addition to two indeterminate xanthoid species. Assignment of fossil taxa to genera within the Panopeidae Ortmann, 1893, is difficult due to the marked similarity in dorsal carapace characters among several genera. Panopeus whittenensis Glaessner, 1980, is herein referred to Pakicarcinus Schweitzer et al., 2004. The Puerto Madryn Formation exposed near Puerto Piramide contains three distinct Facies Associations (1-3), each associated with specific paleoecological and paleoenvironmental conditions, and which recur throughout the section and represent trangressive systems tract (TST) deposits and highstand systems tract (HST) deposits. Within Facies Association 1, near the base of the section at Puerto Piramide, three paleosurfaces containing invertebrate fossils in life position are exposed and have been carefully mapped in plan view. -

The present study was conducted to verify the identification of two morphotypes of the spider crab Menaethius monoceros (Latreille, 1825) in the family Epialtidae Macleay, 1838, collected from the Red Sea, Egypt. DNA barcoding of two mitochondrial markers, cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) and 16S, was used successfully to differentiate between these morphotypes. Results: DNA barcoding and genetic analyses combined with morphological identification showed that the two morphotypes were clustered together with low genetic distances ranged from 1.1 to 1.7% COI and from 0.0 to 0.06% 16S. Hence, this morphological variation is considered as individual variation within the same species. Conclusion: The present study successively revealed that genetic analyses are important to confirm the spider crab’s identification in case of morphological overlapping and accelerate the accurate identification of small-sized crab species. Also, DNA barcoding for spider crabs is important for better future evaluation and status records along the Red Sea coast. Coker during his investigations of the fishery resources of Peru during 1906-1908 were a large number of Crustacea, representing 80 species. It was the original intention to publish the reports on the Crustacea under one cover, but as it has not been feasible to complete them at the same time, the accounts of the barnacles a and isopods b have been issued first. There remain the decapods, which comprise the bulk of the collection, the stomatopods, and two species of amphipods. One of these, inhabiting the sea-coast, has been determined by Mr. Alfred O. Walker; the other, from Lake Titicaca, by Miss Ada L. Weckel. See papers immediately following. Throughout this paper, the notes printed in smaller type were con tributed by Doctor Coker. One set of specimens has been returned to the Peruvian Government; the other has been given to the United States National Museum. Economic value.—The west coast of South America supports an unusual number of species of large crabs, which form an important article of food. -

Crustaceans from these sediments are reported for the first time. The paleobiogeographic range for the genus Haydnella is extended to America. Paleobiogeographic affinities of the identified species indicate mainly a Caribbean influence, with one tethyan element. The high paleocarcinofauna biodiversity found in Chiapas is confirmed with this contribution. Key words: Miocene, Pliocene, Crustacea, Southeastern Mexico Resumen Se describen trece especies de crustáceos de sedimentos del Mioceno Inferior y Plioceno de Chiapas y Veracruz, sureste de México. Análisis isotópicos de 87Sr/86Sr indican que la edad de los sedimentos portadores de ámbar en el área de Simojovel, Chiapas, es precisamente la del límite Oligoceno–Mioceno. Crustáceos de éstos depósitos son reportados por vez primera. -

A reclassification of brachyuran crabs (Crustacea: Decapoda: Brachyura) including a re-ap- praisal of their whole systematics, re-assessment of the systematic status and position of all extant and extinct suprageneric taxa and their redescription, as well as a description of new taxa, has been undertaken. A great number of new higher taxa have been established and the majority of higher taxa have had their systematic status and position changed. Acep. 27-IV-1989) Abstract: Sampling for epifaunal invertebrates on the lower continental platform and the upper slope in the central Gulf of California, México, has yielded specimens of 59 species of stomatopod and decapod crustaceans, including an undescribed Pandalidae, Plesionika carinirostris, new species. The samples, obtained between 65 and 380 m with otter-trawl and benthic dredge, also yielded specimens of Schmittius politus, a species of stomatopod scarcely reported for the Gulf of California, and of Iridopagurus occidentalis and Nanocassiope polita, two species of rarely collected decapods . Two species of brachyuran are reported for the first time in the Gulf of California (Clythrocerus decorus and C. laminatus) and two others, recently described for the area (Chacellus pacificus and Ethusa steyaerti), were again captured.
