Weekly highlights Ainsley’s Food We Love Saturday, 11.40am 10th April ITV Food favourite Ainsley is back in the kitchen, bringing us collections of mouth- watering food, with each episode centring its focus on a particular theme. This opener sees Ainsley dipping into his memory banks as he knocks up a comforting Irish stew inspired by a friend’s gran. Plus, Brian Turner makes a sage and chicken cobbler, and EastEnder Jessica Plumber calls in while Ainsley makes Eccles cakes. ITV Racing: The Grand National Festival/ The Grand National Live Saturday, from 2pm 10th April ITV Ed Chamberlin and Francesca Cumani are at Aintree for the biggest day in the UK’s racing calendar. Ruby Walsh, AP McCoy and Mick Fitzgerald provide analysis. It’s the third day of the Grand National meeting, with the Stayers’ Hurdle among the afternoon’s races. At 5.15pm all eyes will be on the Grand National, and with Tiger Roll not taking part, a new name will head into the famous winner’s enclosure this year. Weekly highlights Catchphrase Celebrity Special Saturday, 6.30pm 10th April ITV Stephen Mulhern presents as three more stars say what they see for the chance to secure a massive amount of money for charity, but who has what it takes to win? The host and Mr Chips have visual clues for Gemma Atkinson, Karen Hauer and Josh Widdicombe as they try to guess the familiar phrases in the animated clues. If they can ‘say what they see’, they could win a £50,000 jackpot for their chosen charity. Game of Talents Saturday, 7.30pm 10th April ITV The first episode in a new entertainment series, hosted by Vernon Kay, in which gameshows and talents show collide to create a guessing game like no other. Competing in pairs, each contestant is partnered with a celebrity teammate as they try to figure out the surprising hidden talents of eight mystery performers. Weekly highlights Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow Saturday, 8.30pm 10th April ITV Alan Carr returns for a second series of his Epic Gameshow - revamping old favourites including Play Your Cards Right, Take Your Pick, Bullseye and more. The second episode is a reboot of the darts gameshow Bullseye. Alan presents alongside Bully as pairs of contestants take on the questions and the dart boards, looking to secure a spot in the Epic End Game. You really can’t beat a bit of Bully. The Jonathan Ross Show Saturday, 9.35pm 10th April ITV The host begins a new series of his chat show, featuring some of the biggest stars on the planet dropping by for a natter and the best musical acts performing. Kicking off the series, Jonathan talks to Strictly Come Dancing champion Oti Mabuse, This Country star Daisy May Cooper, comedian Jimmy Carr and father-and-son duo Martin and Roman Kemp. Midsomer Murders: The Stitcher Society Sunday, 8pm 11th April ITV Neil Dudgeon returns as DCI John Barnaby as the 22nd series of the crime drama begins. Unsurprisingly, considering we are in Midsomer, a murder isn’t far away... A local outcast, who was controversially acquitted of murder years previously, becomes the latest inductee into a post-operative heart rehab club. Weekly highlights Alan Titchmarsh: Spring into Summer Monday, 8pm 12th April ITV The new series in which Alan Titchmarsh celebrates the great outdoors and the joy of getting back into the fresh air and our green and pleasant land continues. This time around Alan is joined by dancer, Strictly star and TV presenter Anton Du Beke, who discusses cheering up the nation this summer. Plus, horticulturist Camilla Bassett- Smith shows Alan around her cottage garden, and there’s a look at birds of prey. Too Close Monday-Wednesday, 9pm 12th-14th April ITV Three-part thriller starring Emily Watson as forensic psychiatrist Emma Robertson, assigned to work with a wife and mother accused of committing an awful crime. Emma Robertson is assigned the case when ‘yummy mummy’ Connie Mortensen commits a terrible, unimaginable crime. Emma’s assessment of Connie’s mental state will determine what happens to her, but a twisted game of cat and mouse soon begins. Weekly highlights For the Love of Britain Tuesday, 7.30pm 13th April ITV Julie Walters narrates as a number of her famous friends explore more of the weird and wonderful parts of the UK. This time the focus is on the Peak District. In the final episode of the series, Katherine Kelly walks up Mam Tor, while Ben Fogle tries a special honey made by local bees. Paul O’Grady For the Love of Dogs Wednesday, 8pm 14th April ITV Paul continues his new stint at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, meeting a number of pooches with problems as he tries to help find the animals forever homes. Paul has got his hands full as he meets an energetic Staffie cross who is in real need of calming down in kennels. Plus, the host falls in love with a rare West African dog called an azawakh and does all he can to coax an overbred bulldog out of her shell. Using first-hand anecdotes, private letters and personal memorabilia, this is a rare glimpse into royal life as the host meets relatives from many branches of HM the Queen’s family tree, including the Mountbatten dynasty and an international princess.
