Care has been taken to accurately record this information and it has been verified and corroborated where possible, however much of the information has not been entered as sworn testimony, or subjected to cross-examination. Chapter 4 the Right-Wing Media Enablers of Anti-Islam Propaganda
Chapter 4 The right-wing media enablers of anti-Islam propaganda Spreading anti-Muslim hate in America depends on a well-developed right-wing media echo chamber to amplify a few marginal voices. The think tank misinforma- tion experts and grassroots and religious-right organizations profiled in this report boast a symbiotic relationship with a loosely aligned, ideologically-akin group of right-wing blogs, magazines, radio stations, newspapers, and television news shows to spread their anti-Islam messages and myths. The media outlets, in turn, give members of this network the exposure needed to amplify their message, reach larger audiences, drive fundraising numbers, and grow their membership base. Some well-established conservative media outlets are a key part of this echo cham- ber, mixing coverage of alarmist threats posed by the mere existence of Muslims in America with other news stories. Chief among the media partners are the Fox News empire,1 the influential conservative magazine National Review and its website,2 a host of right-wing radio hosts, The Washington Times newspaper and website,3 and the Christian Broadcasting Network and website.4 They tout Frank Gaffney, David Yerushalmi, Daniel Pipes, Robert Spencer, Steven Emerson, and others as experts, and invite supposedly moderate Muslim and Arabs to endorse bigoted views. In so doing, these media organizations amplify harm- ful, anti-Muslim views to wide audiences. (See box on page 86) In this chapter we profile some of the right-wing media enablers, beginning with the websites, then hate radio, then the television outlets. Abstract Studies focusing on violence in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) conclude that the Russian aggression in 1979 towards Afghanistan, anarchy in post-soviet era, and US invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 are the key reasons of spreading of violence in FATA. However, there is a controversy in views about the nature of violence in the bordering areas of Pakistan and Afghanistan. This paper empirically analyzes three dimensions of wide spread violence in the area. First, it maps the current research and views on the nature of violence in FATA. Second, it examines meta-theories of peacemaking and their relevance to the cultural, social and historical context of the tribal belt. Finally, this paper proposes the policy options for conflict management at the state level in Pakistan. Introduction The conflict in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) has been explored to greater extent and the majority of studies conclude that the current violence in FATA has its roots within the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) invasion of Afghanistan which ended up in the Afghan civil war. Soviet invasion pulled the United States of America (USA) into this region. The Kafir Ottoman state If a state is Islamic, but its people are not muslims the constitution of this state has to be the Qur'an. If the state is taghut, but the people are muslims, the people has to come in masses to the street and declare that they are against this taghut and have to show there annoyance to this state and have to rise against this state. If both of those aren't available in a nation, than there is no difference between them and trash. Important note: In a lot of the books of the scholars of Najd are some kufr, like seeing ignorance in grave worshiping as an excuse, not making takfeer before delievering the evidences, not seeing walaa as part from Aslu Deen. If these things were really written by these scholars and haven't been put into their books later -and there is not much doubt, that it is their original work- they are not muslims, but they are mushrikun. Yet they were much closer to Islam than the Ottoman Empire and fought against the Ottomans because of the many obvious shirks, kufrs and evils of the Ottomans. CLAIR Zhivko Hristov New Bulgarian University, Sofia, Bulgaria Abstract Analyzing the vocabulary and the stylistic techniques in the works of the two authors, dedicated to Bulgaria, the article aims to contribute to a change of the two seemingly contrasting attitudes in their Bulgarian reception. The first is the implicit attitude to MacGahan as a "dangerous" author whose work is not even published with its true title - "The Turkish atrocities in Bulgaria". The focus of the analysis are the passages that deal with the Bulgarian material culture and education, as well as their axiological charge. The second is the negative value-based perception of the Bulgaro-phobic texts of St. Clair, an author obviously considered ineligible for translating into Bulgarian. However, his work might be a valuable source of knowledge about the culture of the Bulgarian national revival, provided that our reception remains neutral and unaffected by his derogatory language. A Bismarckian Moment: Charkaoui and Bill C-3 Craig Forcese and Lorne Waldman* I. INTRODUCTION The German statesman Otto von Bismarck once said that “[i]f you like laws and sausages, you should never watch either one being made.”1 The recent enactment of Bill C-32 — the government’s response to the Supreme Court’s February 2007 decision in Charkaoui v. Canada (Citizenship and Immigration)3 — can best be described as a “Bismarckian moment”. An effort to remedy the core defects of the prior immigration security certificate regime, the new law cobbles together a potentially half-hearted “special advocate” regime and converts immigration law into a de facto system of indefinite limits on liberty for foreigners. The new system will generate an inevitable series of new constitutional challenges, some of which may succeed at the Supreme Court unless the deficiencies of Bill C-3 are cured by careful innovation at the Federal Court level. -

Malaysian Journal of International Relations, Volume 6, 2018, 35-46 ISSN 2289-5043 (Print); ISSN 2600-8181 (Online) AHMADIYYA: GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF A PERSECUTED COMMUNITY Abdul Rashid Moten ABSTRACT Ahmadiyya, a group, founded in 19th century India, has suffered fierce persecution in various parts of the Muslim world where governments have declared them to be non-Muslims. Despite opposition from mainstream Muslims, the movement continued its proselytising efforts and currently boasts millions of followers worldwide. Based on the documentary sources and other scholarly writings, this paper judges the claims made by the movement's founder, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, analyses the consequences of the claims, and examines their proselytizing strategies. This paper found that the claims made by Mirza were not in accordance with the belief of mainstream Muslims, which led to their persecution. The reasons for their success in recruiting millions of members worldwide is to be found in their philanthropic activities, avoidance of violence and pursuit of peace inherent in their doctrine of jihad, exerting in the way of God, not by the sword but by the pen. Yet, there arose several individuals who claimed prophethood in Islam. Among the first to claim Prophecy was Musailama al-Kazzab, followed by many others including Mirza Hussein Ali Nuri who took the name Bahaullah (glory of God) and formed a new religion, the Bahai faith. Many false prophets continued to raise their heads occasionally but failed to make much impact until the ascendance of the non-Muslim intellectual, economic and political forces particularly in the 19th century A.D.
