Terrace & District Arts Council- TDAC- has traditionally received an annual grant from the City of Terrace in the amount of $22,500, 30% of which had been provided by the Regional District. As the City has directed all grant decisions and distribution to the Terrace Community Foundation, and as the Regional District will not be investing in the Foundation, we have been advised to apply directly to the District. Our application is for the previous 30% of$22,500 = $6,750. Included here: Description of our organization How our organization benefits the community Summary of Community Assistance Financial Statements Budget July 112016- June 30/2017 List of directors The Terrace & District Arts Council wishes to acknowledge and thank the Regional District for its continued support over the many years it has been active in Terrace and surrounding area. Through this support, our arts community has continued to flourish. A broad community which is able to claim a large professional performing arts theatre, Community Band, Little Theatre Group, Symphony Orchestra, Choral Groups, Art Gallery, local heritage site, Concert Society, Music Festival and many other similar organizations is one that will continue to attract residents and visitors alike. One of our key responsibilities is to access municipal funding to redistribute to our Member groups and to support and fund local arts and cultural related events. Over the past year, TDAC has presented two programs: • Spring Studio Tour in May to promote local working artists. This event is funded by ticket sales less expenses for advertising and tour brochure/packages. • Summer Arts Festival over a 4-day period during the week of River Boat Days in August. This event is free to the public. All expenses, including a contracted coordinator, are funded by TDAC. Our core values include the ongoing ability to foster a variety of arts genres through our member groups, community partners and collaborations with other organizations. We provide programming which is relevant to our community, affordable and accessible to all social levels, while paying the contributing artists. • We serve as an umbrella group to 10 - 15 local arts organizations who apply for membership annually. TDAC continues to provide basic operating grants to member groups Our mission is to foster interest and pride in the cultural diversity of the region and to act as a strong lobby group for the arts. We seek to model support for the arts by granting annual scholarships to students pursuing arts training through post-secondary and summer school programs. (See Summary of Community Assistance with list of grants by group) 1 HOW DOES YOUR ORGANIZATION BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY? By working with community groups and other local societies we provide opportunities for residents to participate in cultural activities and express their artistic abilities. We promote education in the arts by granting annual scholarships to students pursuing arts training through post-secondary and summer school programs. TDAC continues to build relationships with Kermode Tourism Society, Downtown Business Improvement Association, Skeena Diversity Society, TERRACE ARTISTS group, Terrace Women's Centre, First Nations Bands, Heritage Park Museum, Terrace Art Gallery, Rotary Clubs, Terrace District Multicultural Association, the City of Terrace, the Public Library, local artists and other groups outside of our long-time member group affiliations.
