Teaching responsibilities Recently I have been teaching introduction to sociology, medical sociology and qualitative methods. In the past I have taught theory courses. I have supervised and tutored more than 60 students at the Research Master, MA and BA in a very wide variety of subject fields. I have given numerous guest

lectures in sociology, political science, anthropology, psychology, in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Groningen, Germany, and the UK.

Training junior researchers It is my aim to train junior researcher and to support their careers through mentoring and collaboration. The first PhD candidate in my own research project – Bert de Graaff – started to work as PostDoc before finishing his thesis and is now UD in Rotterdam. At least 8 of my master students are accepted in a Ph.D. program (in Cambridge, Milan, Bologna, Leiden, Utrecht and 3 in Amsterdam). Many of my students have found employment at ministries, universities, care organizations or research firms. A master student won the national price for best qualitative research in 2007-2008. I have co-authored articles and chapters with several (former) students.
