All of us who have travelled on these roads know that allowing 10 heavy vehicle movements a day on these unim- proved roads can create a traffic hazard. The proponent has not conducted a traffic count or a road profile on Win- dellama Road or included heavy vehicles servicing the quarry in the prediction. How then can any predictions be accurate?

th Submissions must be with the Department before 5pm Friday, 9 August.

There is not a lot that can be done in the garden in this very cold weather. Just pull a few weeds out each day when passing as a little everyday is better than a big clean up later. Do your garden maintenance now. Prune roses - if not done already. Cut away unwanted suckers from the base of trees, tidy up the rampant stems of climbers. Cut stems from late flowering clematis, prune wisteria - shortening all side shoots to about 5 cm. Take hardwood cutting from woody plants. Refresh compost in permanent pots, removed the top 5 cm plus some around the edge of the pot and replace with fresh compost. Plants that naturally grow in acid soil, such as camellias and rhododen- drons, benefit from top dressing of ericaceous compost, keep the compost about 3 cm below the rim of the pot to make watering easier. Petunias, pansies and primula are the most colourful plants for this time of the year and are great mixed with spring flowering bulbs which are starting to appear now. In the vege garden, plant broad beans, cabbages, carrots, chinese greens, onions, parsnips, peas, potatoes, shallots, spinach, silver beet and sweet potato.

Roll on spring and some nice sunny days.

GOULBURN REGIONAL PROSPECTING AND FOSSICKING INTERESTED HOBBIESTS We are pleased to advise interested hobby prospecting and fossicking folk in the Goulburn region, that the opportunity now exists for them to become members of a socially friendly, informal, special interest prospecting/fossicking group, without all the formalities of ‘club’ involvement and connota- tions. This unique opportunity is being made possible for interested community folk with the co- operation and encouragement of Goulburn U3A who are offering their support for the idea and beneficial community concept of an interesting special interest hobby group.

Thanks are due to Brian Spilsbury, the president of U3A, and his dedicated staff of volunteers, for offering their experienced leadership skills etc,. by offering encouragement for such a venture. Their support and backing, with the use of premises and activity facilities, will provide a wonderful practical location for the operation and administration etc,.of the proposed special interest fossicking/ prospecting group and its activities. This support structure can truely benefit the ongoing future devel- opment of this special interest group. A lot of serious thought has gone into what is being proposed and how to achieve satisfying, uncomplicated participation for interested members.

We need your sincere acceptance of an invitation to attend an informal gathering of all poten- tially interested folk, on Saturday afternoon, the 10th of August from 1pm till 3pm at the Mc Dermott Centre, in Auburn St, Goulburn, NSW, (next to the P.O.). A briefing on guidelines, operational function, features and benefits envisaged for this proposed informal special interest group, will be out- lined to all. You will also be invited to comment and discuss the proposal, and be encouraged to en- roll your registration of membership and active participation.

Following the 10th August gathering, a second meet has been scheduled for members to prepare plans for a forward working agenda. Saturday afternoon 14th September 2013 is the next scheduled meeting date, to plan regular monthly meetings and field activities etc,. (except on School and Public Holidays). U3A have now also kindly made available, their facilities and time slot for ‘A Special Inter- est Fossicking & Prospecting Group’ for the second Saturday of each month at times and venue lo- cations to be advised, relative to the groups activity needs.

We are currently in the process of identifying valuable sources of suitable support and activity oppor- tunities. We are seeking contact with associated businesses and equipment manufacturers to source interesting guest industry and experienced presenters address our group(s). We welcome any mem- ber/associate leads of suitable field activity opportunities and property owner contacts for investigation and consideration to include in our future field activity group(s) opportunities.

That’s all for now…….We look forward with great enthusiasm to meeting and greeting interested folk.

Please advise your attendance, name & numbers etc for Saturday 10th of August for venue prepara- tion and provision.

Lockdown Screams sounded in the hallway and the thudding of footsteps. The bell screeched lockdown, and we ducked and covered. Everyone eyed the door, waiting for something to happen, someone to burst into the room. There was only silence. Some started to cry. Others poured over their work, or whatever it was they were doing. Everyone was afraid. Everyone but me. I sat back in my chair, chewing on gum. I watched the door casually, as if I was waiting for the bell to ring. A smile played on my lips. I could hear what no one else could. The almost silent footsteps as they raced down the hall. They would be there in a matter of seconds. And the door was blown off its hinges. There was four of them. All tall, about six foot each. They were dressed in full black uniforms, with the silver gleam of guns protruding from their hiding places. Students started to scream and run to the windows. Calmly, I reached for my sports bag, right next to my chair. I unzipped as students were held at gunpoint. From it I pulled out three swords, attaching their sheaths to my belt. The bow and arrows were next, strapped to my back. I pulled my long hair into a bun, watching the intruders. None of them noticed me. Not yet. Confident, I stood. This time, they saw me. They froze. They knew who I was. All of them raised their guns, aimed at my head. I flashed them a smile. Their fingers tightened on the trigger. They fired. In that split second, I whipped out my swords and twirled them, hitting the flying bullets, sending them askew in the room. I darted for- ward, eyes on one particular target. I struck, cutting deep into their throat. I ducked another bullet and threw one of my swords. It embed- ded itself into the chest of the second. I leapt across the room, flicking out my hidden blades. I ignored the bullets sailing past my head. I closed in on my next victim, ripping out their throat. A bullet ripped into my side. I hissed in pain and turned towards my final opponent. The leader. He pulled out another gun. I stiffened slightly. .50 calibres. This only meant trouble. Serious trouble. I drew an arrow tightly against my bowstring. I looked into the shadows masking the face beneath the hood. He pulled the trigger and I let my arrow loose. The arrow flew true, slicing the bullet clean in two. It continued on and struck home in the gun itself. I released another arrow, that struck him down. I slipped out of the class, ignoring the looks of disbelief. I slipped through the corridors, a shadow along the wall. I couldn’t hear anyone else. My phone blared and I yanked it out of my pocket. ‘Talk to me.’ I demanded. ‘Four entered your cover school and are doing who knows what…’ Red, the big boss of SSFK. My agency. ‘Eliminated. Any others?’ ‘Not really. Just an entire army!’ ‘Where?’ ‘Not far from you. In their symbolic black cars and armed to full.’ ‘Bring air support, we’re gonna take ‘em down. I’m already on my way, over an out.’ I sprinted from the school, turning towards the only plausible direction they could come from. I hit the highway, running against the cars. I saw my targets. Army was an understatement. I drew my swords. Explosions ripped from the sky above. With a cry, I leaped at the nearest car, swinging my sword.

The building progression has been slow due to the rain, muddy conditions outside prevent the plumber from completing his work The Council cannot do the final inspection until the plumber has finished. We of course must have the rain. Our C.F.R. unit has been very busy this month, and it is not over yet by a long shot. This of course, means that there have been more sick people in our area, unfortunately. The new C.F.R. recruits, ( God bless them), are well on there way to completing the preliminaries before coming fully fledged mem- bers. There must be some of you who are willing to come on board. There is still time to get you in the next intake (just). Kevin Muffet S.E.S. & C.F.R
