Bogus* INTRODUCTION Near the beginning of his wonderful screenplay for Charlie Wilson’s War, Aaron Sorkin includes a scene in which Congressman Charlie Wilson is visited in his office on Capitol Hill by a constituent named Larry Liddle.1 In the movie, Tom Hanks plays Charlie Wilson, a real person who represented the Second Congressional District of Texas for twelve terms.2 Liddle, who presumably is an entirely fictitious character, is played in the movie by Peter Gerety.3 The scene takes place sometime in the early * Professor of Law, Roger Williams University School of Law.
