(opposite Rose Gardens). materials from Waipa District. 310TC044-07 This is an outstanding milestone to be reached by our district, as the recycling service has only been running for eight months. To measure in another way, we have recycled two million kilograms of mate- rial, which is enough to fi ll, by weight, about 70 40ft shipping containers. Residents should be immensely proud of their recycling efforts, and the positive impact that this has had on the environ- ment. Prior to the introduction of the kerbside service, these recyclables would have been sent to the landfi ll. Waipa District Mayor, Alan Living- ston, is proud to be Mayor of a district that values the environment so highly. “This milestone is an excellent achievement, and refl ects our district’s total buy-in to the need for, and the ben- efi ts of, recycling. “Community consultation highlighted the public support for kerbside recycling, the contractor is providing an effi cient service, and the results have exceeded all expectations. Well done and thank you to the community and all associated with the scheme.” This milestone comes at a time when another milestone has been reached; the commencement of a kerbside service to the district’s schools and early childhood centres.
