I asked God to keep her safe until I finish the exam and it happened that she died after I wrote the exam present at her bed side. I wish bana Mwaba you could see your children’s days. You were so wonderful to us and a pillar for the family. May Your Sour Rest in Peace dear. iii COPYRIGHT © 2011 by Sr.Rosemary Mwaba Kabonga. It was not easy to reach this far if it were not for God. My God, to YOU be praise, glory andhonour. You have caused me to match one step at a time and I knew, with you I wasgoing to reach this end. The trouble of resources was in your hands, even my eyes couldnot see as far as this but my faith in YOU could see beyond the financial barriers. I would not find right words to describe your wonders to my life. Special thanks go to my supervisors; Professor K.S.Baboo and Mr.O.Mweemba who through their tireless efforts in guiding me throughout and whose knowledge made it possible for this dissertation to be a reality. I am thankful to the University of Zambia in particular School of Medicine who approved this thesis. Not forgetting Mr.C .Zyambo and other faculty members for their constructive critiques during preliminary presentations. Many thanks to Ministry of Health for granting me paid study leave to undertake the studies for Masters in Public Health at the University of Zambia and partially funding the research proposal.
