The opportunity to support The Aberdeen Christmas Classic in 2016 sits both naturally and comfortably in our Sponsorship programme and indeed presents an ideal platform for us to meet with many of our customers, key stakeholders and colleagues in the fantastic surrounding of the Thainstone Centre. Working closely with the industry brings us into contact with and links both the North East and the Northern Isles, indeed one constant factor in developing, nurturing and growing the current successful livestock trade between the Northern Isles and the North East is NorthLink Ferries. Our Freight Team, based in Stromness, Orkney, led by Kris Bevan our Freight Manager, and our Livestock handling teams at Lerwick, Kirkwall Hatston and Aberdeen are focussed on ensuring the continued success of the livestock trade and with it the agriculture sector. Our teams liaise closely with Mart, Haulier and Animal Welfare Officer in delivering the successful transit of over 137,000 sheep and 27,000 cattle entrusted to us annually, taking pride and care in each safely delivered consignment. We hope you all enjoy your time at the ‘Classic’ and we look forward to meeting with you over the next two days. • North-East Scotland Branch Newsletter
North‐East Scotland Branch Newsletter September 2013 Welcome to the newsletter of your local SOC branch. With some significant changes affecting the branch, and some exciting events coming up, we thought it was time to issue a local newsletter to all our members. While we don’t anticipate this being a regular occurrence, please do contact me if you have anything you would like to include in a future edition, or with any other comments. Other ways to keep up to date with branch news are through our page on the SOC website (http://www.the‐ soc.org.uk/whats‐on/local‐branches‐2/grampian/), which we hope to be adding to soon, and by email. If you’d like to receive email updates about branch news and events, it would be great to have your email address. While we do have many members’ addresses, there are about fifty for whom we don’t. If you think that we might not have your correct (or preferred) address, please send an email to me at grampian.secretary@the‐soc.org.uk. I hope to see you at a branch event soon. Hugh Addlesee, Branch Secretary A new name for the local branch At the Annual General Meeting in April this year, the local SOC branch name officially changed from ‘Grampian’ to ‘North‐East Scotland’, disposing of an unloved and inappropriate name and clearing the way for new SOC developments in Moray (see below). The local group was founded in 1947, and for nearly 30 years it was called the Aberdeen Branch.

  • Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Planning Committee Development Plan Scheme
Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Planning Committee Development plan scheme A Introduction 1 This is the second development plan scheme the Aberdeen City and Shire Strategic Planning Committee (ACSSPC) has published. 2 It provides an update on the progress we have made towards publishing a new structure plan since February 2007, and our programme for the next year. The document provides information on the following five important topics. • Why we are preparing a new structure plan • A review of the past year • Overview of the structure plan process • An updated timetable for preparing the plan (the project plan) • An updated timetable for consulting people and how we will do this (the participation statement) 3 At the end of the development plan scheme we say how we will continue to monitor and review the scheme. 4 We have already spent a lot of time gathering the opinions of the community and other people and groups. We aim to continue collecting their opinions to help us finish the new structure plan. B Why we are preparing a new structure plan 1 There are six main reasons why we are preparing a new structure plan. a Local economic conditions are very different from what was predicted in the Structure Plan Area Forecasts (which we produced in Autumn 1999), which the current structure plan is based on. There is a higher demand for land than we expected at the time. b The way development has taken place under the current structure plan has had consequences we did not plan for. Land released for development in Aberdeenshire has promoted detached housing for families.
