While mainly focused on his period as Cardinal Secretary of State of Pius XI (1922–1930), some hints will also be given to his tenure of office during the pontificate of Benedict XV, as well as to Consalvi’s and Rampolla’s influence on his way of perceiving British matters.     Don Bosco's Beatification and Canonization Story, Highlights and Sidelights Arthur J. Leoti, SDB Introduction I. Proposal and Aim on Bosco was beatified on June 2, 1929, and canonized on Easter Sunday, April I , 1934, by Pope Pius XI. Remembered today, sev­ D enty and sixty-five years later, those events, so glorious and epoch­ making for the Salesian Society, still stir the soul of every son and daughter of Don Bosco. To keep these anniversaries, a recounting of those events in the pages of this Journal seemed both timely and fitting. The story of Don Bosco's beatification and canonization has been told in detail by Don Bosco's biographer, Father Eugenio Ceria, in Volume XIX of the Biographical Memoirs. More recently the process of Don Bosco's canoniza­ tion has been critically investigated by one of the deans of Salesian scholar­ ship, Father Pietro Stella.     526 NOTAS TH. XLTX, 1994 INTENCIÓN DEL AUTOR En YF Arguedas se propuso presentar la temática de la civilización contra la barbarie y a través de su narración llevó a cabo su empresa. En LRP hay una superación de esta intención de Arguedas y allí el autor señala el problema que deviene del mestizaje cultural. En LRP la interpretación de la dialéctica de las dos culturas no tiene solución en el conflicto que se creaxuando ambas chocan. En YF tampoco encontramos una solución al conflicto cultural. Arguedas solo se limita a presentar el conflicto y a apuntar las reacciones que provoca este en otros individuos pero no toma partido. Después de terminar el análisis de contraste entre Yawar fiesta, novela publicada en 1940 y ¿05 ríos profundos, novela publicada en 1958, llegamos a la conclusión de que ha ocurrido una evolución en la obra de Arguedas en relación a la manera de presentar el problema social del indio y en el desarrollo del arte literario. Yawar fiesta es una novela criollista que sigue el mismo patrón de los escritores de ese movimiento, mientras que en Los ríos profundos Arguedas ha logrado una superación temática y de estilo en donde el lector es quien supone el juicio y por lo tanto la novela supone una participación del lector.
