3 AUDITION INFO Stage right aUDITIONS are open TO ALL

You do not need to be a member of Trietsch to participate. Though we would love to have you visit our services if you are looking for a church home! We welcome all our youth though with open arms.

We know that it can be disappointing not to get a part We always have more people auditioning than we have roles for, and there are many factors that directors have to weigh when casting. Every show we have done prior to this show though, we have been able to find a place for everyone who wants to be on stage. That said, we do not plan on having a large cast for this production. Therefore, depending on how many people we have at auditions, it is very likely that we will not have enough roles to cast everyone for ‘Cotton Patch Gospel.’ We totally encourage you to come in and audition though! Just because you weren’t right for one role, doesn’t mean that you won’t be perfect for another!

We encourage you to get involved in other ways. If you do not receive a role in the ensemble, you will still have the opportunity to help us with our tech team, so you are still able to be a part of our production if you choose. Helping paint or build sets, costumes or props, working backstage, or volunteering to usher are great ways to meet people, network, and become part of our ministry family. specific audition notes for this show

Performers will be called from 12:15 to 2p the day of auditions.

We will meet in the six pack ROOM of the FLC (building to the south of the main building). Each auditionee will sign in and receive a number. They will then be instructed to go into a room one by one in the order of the numbers they received, and record themselves performing the pieces they have been asked to prepare ahead of time. Here is the order of the video they will record:

1. Slate: Name, age, and which monologue option you chose to learn

2. Recite/perform Monologue

3. Sing/perform Song

Once this is completed, auditionees will rejoin our audition room and be asked to possibly sing, cold read, or a little of both! We will be teaching harmonies to songs, so please be prepared to sing in front of others.

- There will be no dancing at this audition -

If you are interested in Tech/Crew only for this production, please email: [email protected]

FIELD TRIP: There could possibly be a field trip for this show, but this will be determined with the cast and families post-casting. 5 MONOLOGUE INSTRUCTIONS

Please choose one monologue from the choices below. The Director would prefer to hear a Georgia-southern accent with the monologues listed below:

Female Monologue: Option A (dramatic) I think in Shelby’s case, she wanted to take care of that baby, of you, of everybody she knew… and her poor body was just worn out. It wouldn’t let her do everything she wanted to do. So she went to on to a place where she could be a guardian angel. She will always be young. She will always be beautiful. And I personally feel much safer knowing she’s up there on my side. I know some people might think that sounds real simple and stupid… and maybe I am. But that’s how I get through things like this.

Female Monologue: Option B (comedic) Let’s get one thing straight. I don’t see plays because I can nap at home for free. I don’t see movies because they’re all trash and full of naked people. And I don’t read books because if they’re any good, they’ll be made into a mini-series. Don't you expect me to come to one of your churches or one of those tent-revivals with all those Bible-beaters doin' God-only-knows-what! They'd probably make me eat a live chicken! I'm not crazy, I've just been in a very bad mood for 40 years! The only reason people are nice to me is because I have more money than God.

Male Monologue: Option A (dramatic) If you was hit by a truck and you was lying out there in that gutter dying, and you had time to sing one song. One song that people would remember before you’re dirt. One song that would let God know how you felt about your time here on Earth. One song that would sum you up. You tellin’ me that’s the song you’d sing? That same Jimmy Davis tune we hear on the radio all day, about your peace within, and how it’s real, and how you’re gonna shout it? Or… would you sing somethin’ different. Somethin’ real. Somethin’ you felt. Cause I’m telling you right now, that’s the kind of song people want to hear. That’s the kind of song that truly saves people.

Male Monologue: Option A (comedic) You know my grandpappy drove till he was 87 years old? Oh he was a fine driver. There was only one problem. He couldn’t see! The day he decided to hang up his keys, he got into two car accidents with the same car. He had hit this poor fellow, then he threw the car in reverse, moved forward and hit him again! You look like you’ve been driving a long time. I don’t mean to say you look old or nuthin, but you certainly don’t look young neither. What are you 32? 23! That’s what I meant, I just switched the numbers. I’m always throwing things into reverse. Why, it must be genetic.
