I’m only one of only three Line Trainers training 60 First Officer Pilots! It is a little too much like getting the RAF Cadets ready for their first solo. When I get a new First Officer I have to train him as well as sort out passen- gers, flight plans, weather forecasts together with what feels like a million other things... Ah well no use complaining, it looks like I'm getting onto the New XLS Jet in a few months!” Page 5 TAYSIDE FLYER Page 5 AAeerroo CClluubb ddee SSaaiinntt OOmmeerr Twinning Celebrations Tayside Flying Club was delighted to welcom e Aero Club de Saint Omer’s President Gilbert Magnier, Bernard Pernes, Christophe and Victoire Le Borgne, Patrick and Pascaline Desire, Christophe Minaud and young Damien Ducrocq on 10th & 11th May 2008. A visit to Dundee’s Discovery Point and RRS Discovery kick-started a full programme of weekend activities which included flying Tayside’s New Flight Simulator together with Grob Aerobatic and Piper Warrior Flights around Tayside and North East Fife. Given Saint Omer’s historic connection with The Royal Air Force, being granted per- mission to fly a circuit and final approach at RAF Leuchars was a highlight for our guests aboard Piper Warrior Oscar November. TFC’s Chairman Gordon MacKenzie exchanged gifts with Gilbert Magnier at an Eve- ning Dinner Reception held at The Apex Hotel. The exchange of gifts marked the Twin- ning of our Flying Clubs and acknowledged the friendships established in recent years. Tayside Aviation’s Tipsy Nipper Restaurant at Fife Airport was a first class venue for our Saturday evening celebrations. TFC has arranged to meet the Aero Club de Saint Omer at Jersey’s International Air Rally in June. We will also host the first exchange of Student Pilots during July, when Pierre and Hadrien visit Tayside for a working vacation at Tayside Aviation. It was very pleasing to see such healthy participation from TFC Members throughout the weekend. Special thanks to TFC’s Committee Members, TFC’s Events Team and to Tayside Aviation Ltd for making the weekend such an outstanding success. Roddy began flying after his parents gave him a trial flight at Scone airport for his 13th birthday. His passion for flying has never abated and culminated with the sixth-year pu- pil picking up his license at Dundee Airport.

  • Scoping Study Into Potential Development Opportunities for Dundee Airport
SCOPING STUDY INTO POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR DUNDEE AIRPORT SCOPING STUDY INTO POTENTIAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR DUNDEE AIRPORT Northpoint Aviation Services Ltd in collaboration with RPS Consulting and Reference Economic Consultants Transport Scotland 2013 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Scope of the Study i. The focus of this study has been to evaluate the commercial outlook for Dundee Airport and identify, in the context of a range of short-medium term strategic approaches (or scenarios), potential problems and development opportunities that may undermine, or conversely help to improve its prospects. Based on this analysis, we have then sought to provide a set of overarching (as opposed to design or business case specific) conclusions and recommendations that Transport Scotland, in conjunction with other strategic partners (e.g. HIAL, Dundee City Council and TACTRANS), with an interest in ensuring the airport has a sustainable future, can take forward and implement. ii. The original study brief from Transport Scotland, specifically included the flowing four core elements in the scope of work: • A review of current operations/infrastructure. • A detailed stakeholder consultation/engagement exercise. • Consideration of other regional airport initiatives/models. • Identification of development opportunities, scoping options for their delivery and then their appraisal using the STAG Stage 1 methodology. iii. This Final Report draws together the work that has been undertaken to examine each of these areas while also having regard to the imprimatur in Transport Scotland’s study brief, namely: “to provide a clear explanation of the underlying analysis and approach, including the assumptions behind the work and its limitations”; while noting that, “….. the intention of the study is not necessarily to come to one single conclusion or recommendation.
