THE MUST “ELEGANCE” AND THE ART DE VIVRE

The fifth Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille will take place on 30th June

This major summer rendezvous will host no fewer than 130 exceptional vehicles as well as a selection of concept cars, some of which have never been seen before!

The idea behind this rendezvous is to revive the Concours d’Elégance of which France was the cradle in the 1920s and to celebrate the Art de Vivre à la Française.

In 2017, the last event was a unanimous success with both participants and the public and the attendance was up by 20% compared to 2016 achieving a total of 16 300 spectators. This overall success has won several prizes including the Historic Motoring Event Award of the Year, awarded for the first staging by Octane, the benchmark British magazine. This prize was again awarded the following year and the event was nominated in 2016.

Since 2015, Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille has enjoyed the honorary sponsorship of the Ministry of Culture and Communications. And finally it was nominated by the Peninsula Classics Committee for the Best of the Best Award Committee for 2016, 2017 and 2018 rewarded by the prize for Best of Show in 2017.

Combining the Art de Vivre à la Française with the pleasure of welcoming its guests to a sumptuous garden party in the Le Nôtre gardens in the Chantilly Château, the event is synonymous of a convivial family Sunday in the country and is now THE elegant rendezvous of the summer.

SATURDAY, TWO EXCEPTIONAL RALLIES

Chantilly Arts & Elegance Tour

The owners who are candidates for the Concours d’Etat the following day take part in this tourist rally at the wheel of the most beautiful cars in the world. On the programme is a route of around 100 kilometres through the Oise-Pays de France national regional park and its thick forest. It provides the collectors with the opportunity to discover the many historic monuments in the region before meeting up for lunch in the palace in Compiègne.

Supercars Rally

This rally, which began in 2016, attracted around 30 modern limited production sports cars with extreme performances. Among these very rare Supercars and Ultracars were 8Cs, Aston Martin DB7 Zagatso, BMW i8s, EB110s and Veyrons, Ferrari Enzos, FFs, F40s, F50s and 288 GTOs, Ford GTs, Gumpert Apollos, Diablos and Gallardos, McLaren P1 GTRs, Mercedes-Benz SLR , Pagani Zondas and Porsche Carrera GTs and 918s. These exceptional cars that were a big hit with the public massed along the route went to the Mortefontaine private circuit to give full rein to their power. Boosted by this success the Supercars Rally will welcome more new models this year. All these automotive marvels will be given pride of place the next day on the Le Nôtre lawns in the Chateau allowing the public to see an exceptional display.

The official dinner

The Great Stables, an architectural jewel of the XVIIIth century built by the architect Jean Aubert for Louis-Henri de Bourbon, 7th Prince Condé, provide the setting for the official dinner that kicks of the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille with a menu concocted by great starred chefs plus equestrian spectacles that will set the tone for the evening beginning with a cocktail and then dinner.

SUNDAY, THE CONCOURS

CONCOURS D’ETAT 130 EXCEPTIONAL CARS AND BENTLEY HONOURED!

On Sunday 30th June 2019, the Le Nôtre lawns and the Chantilly Chateau will provide an idyllic setting which, for a few hours, will become the most beautiful motor museum in the world! More than 100 cars from different universes and from all eras will be assembled for the 5th Concours de Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille.

This year, the Chantilly domain will be the theatre of the celebration of Bentley’s centenary with three dedicated classes making up one of the most beautiful exhibitions devoted to the iconic British make. The 5ème staging will be the scene of other milestones like ’s centenary, the Porsche 917’s 50th and Bugatti’s 110th. Fourteen more new classes will provide as many additional highlights that will mark the 2019 concours d’Etat. There will be between four and eight cars in each class and rarity, history, state of preservation and maintenance will be the fundamental criteria, which will be closely scrutinised by the hand-picked jury to award the class winner prize, an obligatory step to be eligible for the final event that will crown the Queen of the Day. This year, the most beautiful cars in the world will represent a wide-ranging history of the automobile from 1913 to 2015 - the Delaunay-Belleville Coupé de Ville to the McLaren 650 S GT3. Here follows a brief description of 11 cars drawn at random.

CLASS: Ballot, 100th anniversary CAR: Ballot Indianapolis Race Car 5/8 LC (1919) ; 1001 Shortly after the creation of the Indianapolis 500 Miles in 1911, the French set out to conquer America. The brothers Ernest and Edouard Ballot found inspiration in the victories of in 1913 and in 1914 and were determined to achieve the same feat in 1919. They specialised in the supply of for the motor car and for boats (hence the anchor on the logo), and they designed a 4.8-litre 8-cylinder power plant for the race. René Thomas finished 11th in the car on show at Chantilly. Boosted by this experience the team returned the following year and came home second.. PAGE 5

CLASS: Endurance GTs from 1994 onwards CAR: Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR (1997) ; chassis 297397WA000004

In the middle of the 1990s, several manufacturers became involved in an arms race facilitated by loopholes in the GT regulations in an attempt to score outright victory in the . The Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR is a perfect illustration of these excesses. Although designed for the road (!) with a carbon monocoque chassis and powered by a 6.9-litre V12 it covered the 0 - 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reached a top speed of 320 km/h. It won the FIA GT Championship in 1997 and 1998, but failed to achieve success at Le Mans.

CLASS: Post-war racing Aston Martins Célébration du 60ème anniversaire aux 24 Heures du Mans CAR: Aston Martin DBR1 (1959) - chassis DBR1/5

This is one of the most famous British racing cars of all time. It was produced in 1956 and is characterised by the triangular air intakes on the flanks that became one of the major styling cues of the make. In the hands of some of the best drivers of the day including Jack Brabham, Tony Brooks, Jim Clark, Stirling Moss, etc. it won everywhere including Le Mans in 1959 with Roy Salvadori and Carroll Shelby at the wheel. The car on display at Chantilly is the only one built for a private team.

CLASS: Pre-war Bentleys - open cars CAR: Bentley Speed Six "Old No. 3" (1930) chassis HM2869

The Bentley Speed 6, brought out in 1928, is the racing version of the 6.5 litre that had appeared two years earlier. This machine completed Bentley’s domination of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the first decade of the race with two consecutive victories in 1929 and 1930 at the height of the fame of the Bentley Boys, a group of well-heeled British sportsmen who won everything at the time. The car on display at Chantilly is the third and last built for the works team. Better-known as Old No. 3, it did not see the finish in the 1930 24 Hours of Le Mans (accident).

CLASS: Marcello Gandini’s creations CAR: P400 S (1969) ; châssis 4127

Marcello Gandini was born in Turin in 1938 and designed some of the most beautiful Italians cars from the mid-sixties onwards. He was the chief designer at Bertone for a long time and was responsible for the famous Lamborghini Miura that many consider the first supercar in history with its 3.9-litre transversally-mounted V12 in the rear. The S version on display at Chantilly is an evolution with a more powerful engine producing 370 bhp.

CLASS: The Porsche 917s CAR: Porsche 917 (1971) ; chassis 917-030

This car is special in more ways than one. First of all, it was the first racing car in the world to be fitted with an ABS system, which didn’t really impress Marko-Larousse at the 1971 Zeltweg 1000 km. Then what happened next is even more surprising. In 1975, Count Gregorio Rossi di Montelera, owner of a famous brand of aperitif, had the prototype modified (exhaust silenced, indicators, leather seats, etc.) and managed to have it registered in the state of Alabama in the USA!

PAGE 6

CLASS: The Iso Rivolta CAR: Iso A3/C Grifo (1964) ; chassis I-3507

The Iso Rivolta Company, a manufacturer of electrical household goods, motorbikes and then the Isetta bubble car, began building a in 1962, the GT 300. Its success encouraged the top brass of the firm to up their game even further and compete against Ferrari. Nothing was left to chance. , the father of the GTO, was entrusted with the development of the car. It was, however, very different from its Italian rival in that it was powered by a V8 . Only a small number of A3/Cs was produced.

CLASS: Japanese sports cars CAR: Toyota 2000 GT (1969) ; chassis 1207

Only once in his life did James Bond drive a Toyota: the iconic 2000 GT produced from 1967 to 1970. And for good reason as this very modern car was a cocktail of the latest cutting-edge technologies of the moment. It is the first series produced Japanese to be equipped with four disc brakes and four-wheel independent suspension as well as rack and pinion . Due to the limited number of cars produced (351), very few were exported (only 25 to Europe), making it a very rare machine.

CLASS: Voisins with Voisin coachwork CAR: Avions-Voisin C25 Aérodyne (1935) ; chassis 50010

At the 1934 Paris Motor Show the crowd was milling around the stand admiring the Traction. Even so a small manufacturer managed to shine. His name? Gabriel Voisin. Unlike André Citroën, he never made mass produced cars. The C25 Aerodyne was pure haute couture with its sliding opening roof actuated by a motor because he designed the whole car; and as a former plane manufacturer aerodynamics were particularly important for him. But the C25 Aérodyne never took off and only seven were made.

CLASS: The racing McLarens CAR: McLaren MP4/4 (1988) ; ex-Senna chassis

Despite its late arrival on the final day in the winter tests, the McLaren MP4/4 crushed its rivals in 1988. It also marked the start of the legendary Prost-Senna rivalry. Designed by and Steve Nichols the car is easily recognisable by its very flat silhouette and its very low ground clearance. It drew its strength from exceptional aerodynamic efficiency and the redoubtable V6 Honda turbo. Winning 15 out of 16 grands prix it is still the most dominant single-seater in the history of Formula 1.

CLASS: Cars at the Paris Motor Show in the Grand Palais, up to 1961 CAR: -Lago T26 Grand Sport (1948) ; chassis 110103

This bare chassis left Talbot-Lago in October 1948, and is the only one delivered to Figoni & Falaschi. It is also the only tear-drop car made by the French in the post-war period. This car with its sleek lines was unveiled at the 1949 Motor Show and is one of the last great designs of post-war French coachwork. Its first owner was an industrialist called the King of the Zip fastener as recalled by the trammels on the front bonnet!

MATRA WORLD CHAMPION - 50th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Fifty years ago won both the drivers’ and constructors’ titles in Formula 1 with . To commemorate this anniversary, Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille has assembled nine of the make’s cars, which helped France to reach the pinnacle of motor sport, including the avant-garde MS 80.

Among Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille’s other ambitions is the celebration of French knowhow in worlds as diverse as art, culture and technology. In this field, Matra holds pride of place as the make revolutionised motor sport at the turn of the 1960s-1970s by bringing in new concepts (monocoque chassis with structural fuel tanks) and innovative manufacturing methods from the world of aviation. Boosted by this engineering knowhow, Matra and Jackie Stewart became F1 world champions 50 years ago, an incredible feat given the stranglehold of the British makes on F1 at the time.

Matra, which began making cars in 1964, flashed across the world of motor racing like a comet. In 10 years, the make won major trophies including those of the Tour de France Automobile (1970, 1971) and the Le Mans 24 Hours (1972, 1973, 1974). It was a symbol of the Trente Glorieuses (a reference to the 30 years of growth after WWII) and France as a winner. Today, Matra is still a symbol of national pride and has left unforgettable memories in the minds of those who heard the shriek of its V12s revving up to 10 000 rpm. On Sunday 30th June the organisers of Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille will proudly present nine of these fabulous blue cars to an international public.

MS 5 chassis 11 (1966-1967) - : “Formula 3 to learn, Formula 2 to hone our skills and Formula 1 to win." This sentence of Jean-Luc Lagardère’s sums up Matra’s involvement in racing. The MS 5 marked the second phase of a project aimed at giving a dynamic image to a company specialised in arms. This car entered by the Tyrrell team helped Jacky Ickx to win the 1967 European Formula 2 Championship title. The car on display at Chantilly won twice (Crystal Palace, Zandvoort) and set pole position at the Nürburgring in a time that would have put it in third place on the grid for the Formula 1 Grand Prix!

MS 5 chassis 84 (1967) - Johnny Servoz-Gavin: In 1967, the cubic capacity of F2 cars increased from 1000 to 1600 cc considerably reducing the gap with the current 3000 cc F1s. This rapprochement was particularly noticeable on twisty circuits on which the small single-seaters were very nimble thanks to their low weight, which is why Matra tried a foray into the top branch of the sport in Monaco with a car from the F2 category. In practice, Johnny Servoz-Gavin qualified in 11th place in front of several F1s including two BRMs and Chris Amon’s Ferrari! Unfortunately, his outing in the race itself proved to be very brief. He stopped with a fuel feed issue after only one lap.

PAGE 8

MS 9 chassis 01 (1968) - Jackie Stewart: This test mule, originally foreseen for suspension testing, had a strange destiny. It was sent to South Africa for private testing two weeks before the F1 Grand Prix and covered in a green primer supposed to dissuade the team from any vague inclinations of getting involved in competitive activities. But this didn’t take into account very promising times. The car was equipped with an additional fuel tank installed above the driver’s knees to guarantee sufficient autonomy in the race. Jackie Stewart was second on the grid and in first place at the end of lap 1, but had to retire because of engine failure.

MS 11 chassis 03 (1968) - Henri Pescarolo: The MS 11 was the first 100 percent French F1 car since 1956 (Bugatti T251 and T32) and it inaugurated the legendary V12 Matra. On 1st June 1968 driven by Jean-Pierre Beltoise it finished second in the Dutch Grand Prix behind Jackie Stewart’s Matra-Ford. And that was its problem as the melodious V12 had difficulties beating the gruffer Anglo- American V8. It was entrusted to Henri Pescarolo at the end of the 1968 season and finished at the back of the field in the two races in which it took part. It should be pointed out that it did not have the evolutions integrated into the car driven by Beltoise.

MS 10 chassis 02 (1968-1969) - Jackie Stewart: The car on display at Chantilly will be forever associated with one of Jackie Stewart’s greatest drives. The Scot was sixth on the grid for the 1968 German Grand Prix and he felt Lady Luck had smiled on him on Sunday when torrential rain hit the Nürburgring. He was suffering from a broken wrist and he knew that these conditions would make his car’s steering lighter. He came round in the lead on the first lap, pulled out 34 seconds over Graham Hill on the second and ended more than 4 minutes ahead at the finish! In this MS 10-02 he also won the opening grand prix of the 1969 season in South Africa.

MS 80 chassis 03 (1969) - Jackie Stewart: Jackie Stewart replaced the MS 10 with this car from the second race of the 1969 season onwards and won six grands prix in it as well as his first F1 world championship title. It was designed by French engineer Bernard Boyer, and is the only non-British F1 - with Ferrari - to win an F1 constructors’ world title: the 2005-2006 , 2010-2013 Red Bulls and 2014-2018 Mercedes were all built in England. It was powered by the V8 Ford Cosworth preferred by Lagardère to the V12 Matra. The car on show at Chantilly is the 2009 season reserve monocoque.

MS 84 chassis 01 (1969) - Johnny Servoz-Gavin: In 1968, numerous races were run in the rain so several constructors took a close look at all-wheel-drive . Jackie Stewart insisted that Matra build a 4-wheel-drive car using Ferguson components. Jean-Pierre Beltoise drove it in the British Grand, but as he was handicapped by his blocked left arm, he suffered because of the heavy steering. The MS 84 was then entrusted to Johnny Servoz-Gavin who finished sixth in it in the Canadian Grand Prix making him the only driver in F1 history to have scored a point in a 4-wheel-drive F1 car.

MS 650 chassis 02 (1970-1971) - Pescarolo-Jabouille-Rives: Larrousse-Rives: In 1970, Jean-Luc Lagardère decided to enter two for the Tour de France Automobile. The Le Mans 24-Hours prototypes were transformed into road-going cars and modified to comply with the Highway Code, and registered! Over nine days France echoed to the music of the V12 driven by the best French aces Jean-Pierre Beltoise, Patrick Depailler, Jean-Pierre Jabouille, Gérard Larrousse and Henri Pescarolo. Amid the general enthusiasm the MS 650s killed all suspense by dominating the race two years running. Chassis 02 finished second in 1970 and first in 1971.

MS 120 C chassis 04 (1972) - Chris Amon: Chris Amon began his collaboration with Matra with an exploit – victory in the 1971 Argentinean Grand Prix! Only problem, it was a non-championship race. It didn´t matter as it looked like the first “real” victory of the blue cars in F1 was only a matter of time. But the New Zealander lost his visor at Monza when he had the race won. The following year he had a puncture on lap 20 (out of 38) of the which he was dominating. The car is now in the 1971 Monaco Grand Prix version. Matra withdrew from F1 after five years that brought smiles and tears to French faces!

THE , THE FIRST TRUE CONCEPT CAR?

The classes of the Concours d’Etat reserved for Marcello Gandini’s creations will provide pretty spectacular viewing as alongside the legendary Bugatti EB110, and Stratos are six concept cars including the extraordinary Alfa Romeo Carabo.

If the 1950s were marked by crazy designs inspired by the aviation industry, it was only in the following decade that cars displayed at motor shows achieved real credibility as a vision of the automobile of the future. Designer Marcello Gandini became a past master in the art of imagining these technological shop windows. In 1968, Giovanni Bertone entrusted him with the Carabo project for the Italian coachbuilder’s first participation in the Paris Motor Show. His first attempt was a master stroke. The Carabo’s wedge shape, clean smooth lines, windscreen extending directly to the front bonnet and height, which did not exceed 99 centimetres, bewitched visitors. Who would have guessed that a sports prototype destined for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33, was hidden beneath the metallic green coachwork?

The Carabo really caught people’s imagination and imposed the angular style that was so popular in the 1970s and 80s. A few months later, Alfa Romeo asked Bertone to design the Montreal. Many other makes called on Gandini to create their concept cars: Autobianchi for the Runabout (1968), the Shake (1970), the BMW Garmisch (1970), the Citroën GS Camargue (1972), the Ferrari Rainbow (1976) etc. which are all on show hors concours at Chantilly Arts & Elégance Richard Mille.

THE CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE THE MARRIAGE OF THE CAR OF THE FUTURE AND FASHION

France was the cradle of the concours d’élégance in the 1920s and the creator of these very popular meetings in which exceptional cars of the era, often personalised by famous , were on display in the company of elegant women dressed in the latest clothes by the great names in French fashion.

One of the driving ambitions behind Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille was to revive this glorious epoch by inviting car manufacturers and designers to unveil to the public their concept cars, interpretations of the future models of their make, by associating them with models in the most beautiful clothes from fashion houses in a unique parade very popular with the public. Thus, premium makes like Alpine, Aston Martin, BMW, Bugatti, DS Automobiles, Lexus, Maserati, McLaren, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Rolls-Royce etc. and Italian coachbuilders Italdesign, Giugiaro, Touring and Zagato unveiled in the last four Chantilly Concours d’Elégance, sometimes as a premier, their latest interpretations of the motor car of the future associated with dress creators Alexandre Vauthier, Ann Demeulemeester, Balmain, Eymeric François, Giorgio Armani, Haider Ackermann, Hugo Boss, Jean-Paul Gautier, Paco Rabanne, Thierry Mugler, Yan Li, etc.

This year the crowd will be able to see from every angle the most innovative concept cars from:

ASTON MARTIN BMW BUGATTI DS HONDA LEXUS MCLAREN RENAULT

CONCOURS D’ELEGANCE: ENTRY LIST

Five manufacturers whose names are synonymous with luxury and performance have chosen the 5th Chantilly Concours d’Elegance to present a concept car. Aston Martin, BMW, Bugatti, DS, Honda, Lexus, McLaren, Renault and Volkswagen have selected the concept cars and fashion houses in which they have placed their hopes to seduce the jury and the public at the 2019 event.

The new Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato Continuation – 19 cars being made – is a track-only sports car, the latest in Aston Martin’s hugely successful Continuation programme which began with the DB4 GT Continuation series in 2017, represents the culmination of around 4,500 hours of painstaking and meticulous artisan craftsmanship. The new model boasts a larger capacity 4.7-litre version of the straight-six cylinder found in the DB4 GT Continuation and, in this guise, is producing in excess of 390 bhp. This is transmitted to the rear wheels through a four-speed and limited- slip differential.

In future, drivers will be able to choose whether they wish to be driven or do the driving themselves. With the BMW Vision M Next, the company is revealing its take on how driving pleasure might look in future. It offers a foretaste of the BMW M brand’s electrified future by placing the focus squarely on the actively engaged driver. Intelligent technologies provide comprehensive yet carefully targeted assistance to turn them into the ultimate driver. The expressive front-end design serves up a confident and modern interpretation of classic BMW icons (classic four-eyed front end). The top section in Thrilling Orange creates adding to the impression of width.

La Voiture Noire by Bugatti was the star of the last . The new hyper sports car, whose name evokes the Jean Bugatti’s personal Type 57 Atlantic, mysteriously vanished in 1939, reflects Bugatti’s heritage and its French identity - elegance through minimalism and refinement through intensification. This is a tailor-made creation only comparable with the haute couture of exclusive Paris fashion designers. This unique extraordinary machine is the most expensive road-going car in the world (11 million euros tax not included) and also one of the most powerful (1500 bhp).

Although DS stands out as an avant-garde automotive brand, with DS X E-Tense, it is going even further by offering an image of what the future holds for the luxury world. Imagining a dream car for 2035 led DS Automobiles to create an asymmetric, three-seat concept that allows owners to select the driving mode that matches their need at any given moment. Located within the front wheels, the all-electric power provide 1,000 kW (1,360 horsepower) in ‘circuit’ mode which allows the driver to savour the exquisite performance of the suspension engineered by the technical team behind DS’s programme.

A simple name for a simple car. The retro urban Honda E concept gained a lot of love for its resemblance to the original Honda CVCC. The contemporary styling of the Honda e is characterised by clean, simple body lines, smooth contours and stepless A-pillars that sit virtually flush with the glass. Some of the noteworthy design elements of the car include compact cameras that replace the traditional side mirrors. Inside, the spacious, contemporary interior creates a comfortable lounge-like feel with an intuitive and customisable dual touch-screen interface to keep passengers engaged with their connected lifestyles.

An open-air roadster that is an artful reflection of the LC coupe, the design goal of the Concept was the expression of “ultimate beauty”. From the rake of the to the smooth contours of the rear decklid that houses the convertible top, every line on the LC Convertible concept was drawn to evoke an emotional response. A stunning design from every angle, the Lexus LC Convertible concept stands as an aspirational halo vehicle for the entire Lexus lineup. Long, low and lean, the LC Convertible concept retains the athletic proportions of the LC coupe. It blends uniquely Japanese aesthetics with the promise of sensory satisfaction that only a convertible can provide.

The Mclaren Speedtail is the first ever Hyper-GT by the company. The most aerodynamically efficient car ever. And the fastest McLaren to date. With a pioneering 1070PS hybrid powertrain at its core. It brings together unprecedented levels of innovation and elegance to create a new benchmark in . The dramatically elongated tail is as distinct in the automotive world as the Speedtail’s incredible velocity : 403km/h (250mph). With a host of innovations, the design minimises all unnecessary shutlines. This creates an outline so sleek it seems hewn from a single form. A drive like no other.

Renault EZ-Ultimo. This autonomous, connected and 100% electric "robo-vehicle" explores the shared mobility of tomorrow from the emotional side. Its promise: to provide you with a premium and immersive mobility experience, for a single trip, an hour or a day. The EZ- Ultimo cabin is presented as an intimate cocoon in which everything is done to make passengers feel like in a living room: wooden floor, a marble band on the sides, leather and velvet for the armchair and bench. These top-of-the-range materials are processed in a modern way to meet the requirements of the .

Drawing inspiration from the classic Californian dune buggies of the 60s, here is the Volkswagen ID. Buggy concept. Buggy shows the versatility of the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) and puts the fun in functional. Like the classic Beetle and Bus, ID. Buggy has no need for a grille, and yet the summer cruiser is instantly recognizable as a Volkswagen. The prominently raised hood, fenders and tail end hint at the concept’s off-road chops. The ID. Buggy’s minimalist interior is characterized by easy handling and waterproof materials.

16 CAR MANUCTURERS INVOLVED!

The fifth Concours d’Elegance de Chantilly will bring together nine concept cars from nine different makes – a record! But that’s not all as other exceptional models will be displayed by the 16 motor car manufacturers officially mobilised: , Alpine, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Bugatti, DS, Ferrari, Honda, Lexus, McLaren, Pagani, Porsche, Renault, Tesla and Volkswagen.

Concept cars are the stars of the international motor shows and they fascinate visitors so it’s often very difficult to get close to them. Chantilly Arts et Elegance Richard Mille gives them a very different showcase as they can be displayed and also move around in the magnificent setting of the chateau. This time they move along at almost walking pace dictated by the models who accompany them dressed in unique clothes made by the major fashion houses.

On Sunday 30th June at 14:40, all the right conditions will be in place to allow the public installed around the central lake to really appreciate these cars of the future which, once they come down from the podium, will prove that they are well capable of moving. The jury will have to deliberate on the quality of this spectacle. They’re going to have a difficult job with the presence of nine models entered by Aston Martin, BMW, Bugatti, DS, Honda, Lexus, McLaren, Renault and Volkswagen. The name of the cars that are candidates for the Best of Show will be announced on the Facebook page of1 Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille every day starting on 20th June.

DS, the French high-prestige make at the event since 2015, has announced the presence of a Formula E single-seater, the DS 3 Crossback E- Tense 100 % electric and the DS 7 Crossback E-Tense 4x4. Further proof that today a link between racing and the road still exists.

Lexus, which is also a partner, will use the day to organise the European final of the UX Art Car competition, a competition for artists working on car bodywork. The group representing France will use a UX 250h – live!. Young spectators can take part in an original origami workshop!

THE GRAND PRIX DES CLUBS A PASTORAL SETTING FIT FOR A PAINTING

The makes’ clubs are the guardians of motor car history and they bring together owners impassioned by a make or a model they have restored and put back into perfect working order at a cost of hundreds of hours of research and painstaking work. Thanks to them these collector cars are living witnesses to the in-depth richness of worldwide car production. They are privileged players at Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille and invited to display their cars by nationality of the make in the dedicated spaces around the Château.

They add excitement and passion to this elegant Sunday in the country and take part in this huge garden party that’s a country tableau that would have inspired some of the most illustrious Impressionist painters. From the sophisticated picnic basket to the table decorated with refined taste the elegance must be harmonious to hope to win the Grand Prix des Clubs awarded for the quality of the presentation, the diversity and originality of the models on show as well as the care brought to the lunch on the grass. In 2017, 42 clubs comprising 800 cars took part in this marvellous celebration of the motor car. The 5th Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille can count on the following clubs:

A TOP-QUALITY JURY

The awarding of prizes for each of the concours is the result of the vote of recognised specialists of a make or period, the great names in the world of the motor car and prominent figures in other fields. The jury’s eclecticism, as much by its culture as by its origins, defines its quality. Thus, Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille brings together an international jury representing different worlds. Among the members of the 2019 jury figure in particular: Messrs Patrick Rollet (President of the FIVA), Gérard Larrousse (driver & team manager), Paul Belmondo (driver & actor), Margot Laffite (journalist & driver), Andrea Zagato (President of Carrozzeria Zagato) …
