We have been busy since I assumed the Presidents role with a Christmas Party and an amazing Steak Roast for our lovely Ladies on Valentine’s Day- Put it on next years calendar now, we will have fun topping that event, February 13, 2022. Arcadia is planning their Annual Rodeo and we will be in the Parade, times are not set yet but we will start with Pancakes at our building and return to a lunch of Hamburgers, Hot Dogs and Brats. Keep an eye on your email for times. Remember your Ladies are invited to participate, we all had fun last Noble President year. The building is transforming quickly into a lovely place to meet. We have Richard Moyer used the Patio a few times and it was great, (now we have ceiling fans) it also helps to know if it is too hot or rainy we can enter a nice A/C building. Storage has been tight and we now have modified the food trailer to www.VeniceShrineClub.org address this issue. Editor- Noble Russ Mattson At the March stated meeting March 16th we plan to have an informative speaker, again keep an eye on your email. Lastly Bob Collins with the help of Scott Gardner have revamped the Website, please every few weeks take a look at it for information and especially some great photos. Since Presidents’ Day was last month, I thought this would be appropriate.” It is important to remember just a little history of masonry. Freemasonry found its way to the U.S. soon after four English Lodges organized the Grand Lodge of England in 1717. In the freer air of the New World, the order flourished. George Washington was a lifelong Freemason and served as the master of his lodge in Alexandria, VA. As you may be aware, other notable Americans as Samuel Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Paul Revere and Patrick Henry were masons. Of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence, many wore the white apron of a Masonic Lodge. Benjamin Franklin and John Hancock included. Freemasonry has appealed to men through the ages; the high, the low, the rich and the poor. Members are treated equally, all being on the level. A general may well sit with a private. President Theodore Roosevelt attended a Long Island lodge where his neighbor’s gardener was master of the lodge!! The white apron, known as a lambskin, is the badge of a Mason. Its whiteness serves to remind him of his innocence and purity of a righteous life. Members of the Shrine can be identified by proudly wearing the red fez at social functions and parades. Freemasonry is a stepping stone to many other organizations and affiliates: Shrine, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Tall Cedars, etc. Did you know that these men were also Masons? Steve Wozniak, Ed Rendell, Robert Dole, John Elway, John Glenn, Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, Paul Harvey, Trent Lott, Brad Paisley, Kit Carson, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Ty Cobb, James Doolittle, Henry Ford, Walter Chrysler, Glen Miller, Will Rogers, Mark Twain, Francis Scott Key, Merriweather Lewis, William Clark, Rudyard Kipling, Wolfgang Mozart, Winston Churchill and fourteen Presidents of the United States. Want to know many more? Check out Wikipedia’s list of “Freemasons.” Contrary to what many believe, Freemasonry is not a secret society. It does not hide its existence or its membership. There has been no attempt to conceal the purpose, aims and principles of Freemasonry. It is an organization formed and existing on the broad basics of brotherly love, relief and truth. We should all remember this as we lead our busy daily lives. Let’s make the Venice Shrine Club an anchor in our masonic community. All we do and say should be in accordance with masonic ideals. Your underwear is $8.95 for a three-pack. Two pairs of shoes are more than enough. Everything on your face stays its original color. The same hairstyle lasts for years, maybe decades. You can play with toys all your life. One wallet and one pair of shoes - one color for all seasons. You can wear shorts no matter how your legs look. You can 'do' your nails with a pocket knife. You have freedom of choice concerning growing a mustache... You can do Christmas shopping for 25 relatives on December 24 in 25 minutes. No wonder men are happier! EATING OUT · When the bill arrives, Mike, Dave and John will each throw in $20, even though it's only for $32.50. None of them will have anything smaller and none will actually admit they want change back. When the girls get their bill, outcome the pocket calculators. MONEY. A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he needs A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't need but it's on sale.

    Free State Freemason September 2006 CONTINUING IN THE “PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE” From the Grand Master: My Brethren: As you receive this issue of our Masonic publication, The Free State Freemason, I'm sure most of you have either been on vacation or you are planning a late summer trip before the children head back to school. I trust you will all be well rested and ready to get back to work in Lodge and make the rest of our Masonic year meaningful. I can tell you that summer brings no relief to the schedule of your Grand Master or Deputy Grand Master as we are constantly busy promoting "Maryland Masonry." The Summer Schools of instruction have been well attended across the state and we have been busy with various other Grand Lodge activities. The Grand Lodge of Maryland has had the pleasure and privilege of hosting the 2006 Northeast Conference of Grand Masters and from all accounts it has been deemed a success. We were fortunate enough to have been able to hold this event in the old Grand Lodge building on North Charles St. and our distinguished guests as well as some of our own members were impressed with the $24 million dollar renovation. Earlier in the spring we had the honor of reopening and rededicating the building and it was an emotional homecoming for all in attendance. Our trip to Tampa and the Imperial Shrine Convention was fruitful and the situation that existed with Almas Temple moving into Maryland has been temporarily resolved.     VENICE SHRINE CLUB PO BOX 572 VENICE, FLORIDA 34284 Volume 4 Number 4 April 2021 Hello Nobles: We enjoyed a wonderful and very successful parade in Arcadia, the wives of our Nobles did a wonderful job helping with everything, what would we do without them. The breakfast before and lunch after by Noble Chick was enjoyed by all. The monthly 4th Wednesday Social was a huge success. The first retirement of Unserviceable Flags is something we should do at least twice a year. The outside landscaping, storage building and patio should be completed by the end of April. I would like to thank all of our officers for the help that they have given me so far this year. We all had a real scare when our great friend and Noble Barney had a stroke and was strong enough to make it to the stated meeting, God Bless you and thanks for all you do for us. Speaking of the stated meeting, we had the Potentate Ill Sir Gary Fields, and Imperial Ceremonial Master Ill Sir Kevin Costello in attendance. Noble Dick Warner’s son Charles Warner spoke on Russia and the Ukraine in which he has been a missionary for over 30 years. Noble President I am looking forward to starting up our events again soon. Once again I would like to thank all of the Nobles and their wives for all of your help.     Masonic Minutes—January One Masonic Appendant Bodies Freemasonry is a world of seemingly unlimited possibilities. Once a candidate knocks on the door of Freemasonry it leads to a series of others, if he is interested. The three degrees of the Masonic Lodge (Blue Lodge) are the foundation that unites all Freemasons, but it is not the end of Masonic Light. There are a myriad of consequent degrees and rituals that further develop Masonic concepts. There are over 40 Appendant Bodies in the State of Missouri that provide opportunity for discovering added light. Masonic Appendant Bodies further develop virtuous living by teaching allegoric lessons to refine the character. Some organizations such as the Scottish Rite and York Rite bodies are wrapped around historical events described in the Holy Bible. Temple rituals, High Priests, Kings and Princes all factor into the ritual lessons taught. The Scottish Rite is a series of lessons meant to inspire the philosophical aspects of moral and rational living. It is not dependent on a candidate possessing a sacred belief system beyond the one required for the Blue Lodge. The York Rite includes three bodies; Royal Arch Masons, Cryptic Masons and Knights Templar. Of these orders only the Templars require the candidate to profess a Christian faith. From this body of three orders comes numerous others that further develop the Priestly and Magi concepts. Many of these bodies are research oriented. Other Appendant Bodies are designed more informally for socializing such as the Tall Cedars of Lebanon or the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine, more commonly known as the Shriners.
