It was my great honor in July to begin a term as President of the Arc Downriver.

By way of background, our family have been members of the ARC Downriver since 2012, when our son Jeremy started basketball with Coach Mike. I have worked for Napa Auto Parts, Ford Motor Company, Booz Allen Hamilton, and currently for QBE, a global property & casualty insurance company. Today, I am responsible for real estate, printing and mailing of insurance documents, business continuity, facilities, and other back office functions for our North American division. My wife Amber and I have four children, one grandson, and live in New Boston.

On behalf of the entire ARC Downriver membership, I would like to thank Jim Dickinson for his leadership over the past 8 years. We are grateful for his guidance. I am also extremely thankful that Jim and past president Mike Cervenak are both still involved with the Arc and are great resources.

It is a very exciting time to be in a leadership role with Arc Downriver. The new Board has identified several goals, including increased financial wellness and transparency, community outreach, and a more cohesive communication approach including the launch of our new website! We will be driving more communication through the website – so make it a regular stop in your internet browsing.

Arc Downriver has some great opportunities found in the strengths of our Board, staff and members, and the unique purpose of the board is to deliver results. I believe that we have the vision of what we are capable of becoming as a membership organization and my goal as President is to keep us loyal to that vision.

Please share what you would like the Board to focus on at an upcoming Board or Member- ship meeting on Tuesday, November 12th.

I can't wait to see what our organization will achieve!

Regards,

Dennis Glinski

Thanks to you, Congress just passed the Autism CARES Act of 2019!

The legislation now heads to the President’s desk to be signed into law.

The passage of Autism CARES ensures continued federal support for autism research, monitoring, training and services at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) and Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). The legislation authorizes more than $1.8 billion in funding over the next five years and places an increased emphasis on reducing health disparities and improving services for people with autism throughout the lifespan.

Your voices and support helped achieve this accomplishment! Throughout this process, members of Congress have shared their gratitude for advocates, like yourself, who speak up and fight for critical legislation like this. We join them in thanking you for your dedicated advocacy.

Thank you, The Autism Speaks Advocacy Team
