    Foreword Successful education policies are formed and supported by accurate, timely and reliable data, to improve governance practices, enhance accountability and ultimately improve the teaching and learning process in schools. Considering the importance of robust data collection, the Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) Department, Katsina State Ministry of Education prepares and publishes the Annual Schools Census Statistical Report of both Public and Private Schools on an annual basis. This is in compliance with the National EMIS Policy and its implementation. The Annual Schools Census Statistical Report of 2018-2019 is the outcome of the exercise conducted between May and June 2019, through a rigorous activities that include training Head Teachers and Teachers on School Records Keeping; how to fill ASC questionnaire using school records; data collection, validation, entry, consistency checks and analysis. This publication is the 13th Annual Schools Census Statistical Report of all Schools in the State. In line with specific objectives of National Education Management Information System (NEMIS), this year’s ASC has obtained comprehensive and reliable data where by all data obtained were from the primary source (the school’s head provide all data required from schools records). Data on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of basic education and post basic to track the achievement of the State Education Sector Operational Plan (SESOP) as well as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); feed data into the National databank to strengthen NEMIS for national and global reporting. The report comprises of educational data pertaining to all level both public and private schools ranging from pre-primary, primary, junior secondary and senior secondary level.

ABDU BABANGIDA UMAR Department of Agricultural Technology Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic. E-mail: [email protected] ABSTRACT The study was conducted at Dayi irrigation site, Malumfashi Local Area, Katsina State, Nigeria. The objective was to evaluate the socio-economic characteristics of onion producers, profitability of onion production and compare the return from onion seed and onion bulb production. The study was carried out using well-structured questionnaire administered to 70 farmers, 35 for each category of producers (onion bulb and seed) randomly selected. The data was analyzed by using descriptive statistics, gross margin analysis and t-test analysis. The result indicated that majority the respondents were male, aged between 40-50 years with an average family size was 6-10. Onion seed farmers have higher average gross margin of N112, 917 with higher average variable cost of N11, 697 while onion bulb producer have lower average gross margin of 56,963 with lower average variable cost N241. The result of the profitability index also reveals higher benefits for investment in onion seed production enterprise with a profitability index of 9.7 although both methods of production are found to be profitable. It rarely relies on quantitative data because police crime statistics are not reliable, or not available, or not even published. There is thus quantitative analysis a need to bridge the qualitative and quantitative approaches of conflict studies. This book represents an innovation and fills a gap in this regard. It is the first to introduce a discussion on such issues in a coherent manner, relying on a database that fills the lacunae in A qualitative and quantitative data from the security forces. The authors underline the necessity of a trend analysis to decipher the patterns and the complexity of violence in very different fields: from oil production to cattle breeding, radical Islam to motor accidents, land conflicts to witchcraft, and so on.     FLASH REPORT #53: POPULATION DISPLACEMENT DTM North West/North Central Nigeria Nigeria 17 - 23 MAY 2021 Aected Population: Damaged Shelters: Casualties: Movement Trigger: 1,922 Individuals 31 99 Armed attacks OVERVIEW AFFECTED LOCATIONS Nigeria's North Central and North West Zones are afflicted with a mul�dimensional crisis that is rooted in long-standing tensions between ethnic and religious groups and involves a�acks by criminal groups and banditry/hirabah (such as kidnapping NIGER REPUBLIC and grand larceny along major highways). The crisis has accelerated during the past years because of the intensifica�on of a�acks and has resulted in widespread Sokoto displacement across the region. Yobe Between 17 and 23 May 2021, armed clashes between herdsmen and farmers, and Batsari bandits and local communi�es have led to new waves of popula�on displacement. 613 Following these events, rapid assessments were conducted by DTM (Displacement Tracking Matrix) field staff with the purpose of informing the humanitarian commu- Katsina nity and government partners, and enable targeted response. Faskari 14 Bauchi The latest a�acks affected 1,922 individuals including 69 injuries and 99 fatali�es in Kebbi 166 Agatu LGA of Benue State, Jema’a and Chikun LGAs of Kaduna State and Faskari, Malumfashi and Batsari LGAs in Katsina State. The a�acks caused people to flee to neighbouring localities.
