We are very pleased to have Carolina Yacht Club in Wrightsville Beach as this year’s host and the club has planned a great event. Hosting a US Sailing championship is a big undertaking. Elizabeth Schuett, Regatta Chair, has spent many hours working on the details for this event with the event’s respective committees. US Sailing is grateful for the year- long effort by all those involved. We also thank our sponsors, Gill NA and Hobie Polarized, as well as the local sponsors including Sterling Wealth Management, Bennett Brothers Yachts, Blockade Runner Hotel, Tama Café, North Sails, Tropic Sport, Dr. and Mrs. Henry Singletary, and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene B. Woodbury, whose generous support makes this premier racing event possible. Competing in a US Sailing Championship may be a new racing experience for you. Each time it is a different group of sailors and an opportunity to make new friends and reconnect with others. The novelty of the event and the boats will surely make this memorable and challenging for you. Perhaps you will set a new personal record of achievement in sailing. Or, maybe sail- ing a less-familiar boat will bring you new insights about sailing your usual boat. Most of all, I hope you will simply have fun sailing and making new friendships anchored in your passion for the sport. Sail fast, compete fairly and enjoy this unique experience. We are glad you are joining us. Bruce Burton, President US Sailing 2 Welcome from the Commodore Greetings from Wrightsville Beach! High temps are usually in the 80s with lows in the 70s. Water temps are usually in the mid 70s. As always in the summer there is a chance of afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Typical June winds are a little less predictable, but an afternoon 12 to 15 knot sea breeze with 2 to 3-foot seas is the norm. There is a 4 to 5-foot tide swing creating some current in the sound but there should be no noticeable tidal currents after clearing the inlet or on either course. From the CYC, sail south to Masonboro Inlet. At low tide care should be taken in the sound to avoid sandbars and shallow water mainly on the west side of the channel. Exit and enter Masonboro Inlet only between the 2 rock jetties. A falling tide with an opposing wind can produce large, sloppy swells at the mouth of the inlet. Give the rocks (and the fisherman) a wide berth at the end of the jetty. There is a breakwater connecting the north jetty to the island that is underwater at high tide. DO NOT attempt to sail between the rocks and the island! Our usual seabreeze is from the SE to just a little west of south and we hope to set the courses just north of the inlet and as close to the ocean side porches as possible. Water depth will be 30’ to 50’. Thunderstorms typically come in from the southwest and conditions can deteriorate quickly. This creates a need for the RC to be vigilant and act early since we must sail toward the storms and sometimes into the wind to reach shelter. If given the word to return to shore, please do so immediately. 7 Competitors Skipper Yacht Club Radial Abbie Carlson Seattle Yacht Club AnaLucia Clarkson Seattle Yacht Club Annika Fedde Ventura Yacht Club Asher Zittrer Lakewood Yacht Club / GCYSA Bastien Rasse California Yacht Club Brett Putnam SAILFIT / Clearwater Community Sailing Center / Davis Island Yacht Club Bryan Trammell Texas Corinthian Yacht Club / GCYSA Caleb Yoslov San Francisco Yacht Club Cameron Giblin Shrewsbury Sailing and Yacht Club Carrter Pearce Lauderdale Yacht Club / Surf City Yacht Club Chapman Petersen Lauderdale Yacht Club / Lake Geneva Yacht Club Chase Carraway Lauderdale Yacht Club / Carolina Yacht Club Chase Reynolds Pequot Yacht Club/LISOT Christian Ehrnrooth Lauderdale Yacht Club / RBYC Collin Porter Lauderdale Yacht Club Connor Murphy Lauderdale Yacht Club Connor Nelson Davis Island Yacht Club Diego Escobar Mission Bay Yacht Club David Manley Tred Avon Yacht Club Elizabeth Shanahan Lauderdale Yacht Club / Stamford Yacht Club Emma McInnis Corpus Christi Yacht Club / GCYSA 8 Competitors Skipper Yacht Club Radial Continued Gavin McJones California Yacht Club Grace Austin Lauderdale Yacht Club / Belle Haven Club Heather Kerns St. Petersburg Yacht Club James Paul Lauderdale Yacht Club / Stamford Yacht Club John Eastman Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club Lance Covington GCYSA Lauren Ehnot Surf City Yacht Club Lawson Levine Lake Forest Sailing Lillian Myers GCYSA Lucas Sawin Lauderdale Yacht Club / Hobcaw Yacht Club Lucija Ruzevic Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club / GCYSA Marcus Huttunen Mission Bay Yacht Club / GCYSA Marianna Shand Mission Bay Yacht Club Mateo Di Blasi Lauderdale Yacht Club / St. Thomas Yacht Club Mathieu Dale Lauderdale Yacht Club / St. Croix Yacht Club Matthew King Sarasota Youth Sailing Matthew Wallace Lauderdale Yacht Club / American Yacht Club Michael Burns Pass Christian Yacht Club / GCYSA Michael Pinto Surf City Yacht Club Owen Timms Seattle Yacht Club 9 Competitors Competitors Competitors Skipper Yacht Club Radial Continued Ricky Welch Long Beach Yacht Club / GCYSA Sarah Young San Francisco Yacht Club Scott Harris Carolina Yacht Club / Lauderdale Yacht Club TJ Mahoney St. Francis Yacht Club / San Francisco Yacht Club Tasei Hatter San Diego Yacht Club 10 Competitors Competitors Competitors Skipper/Crew Yacht Club International 420 Adam Larson VMG Racing/ Outfit Sailing Kenny Corsig Alexandra Mares Houston Yacht Club / Texas Corinthian Yacht Kara Scully Club Cameron Turner Chautauqua Lake Yacht Club / Vineyard haven Oliver Duncan Yacht Club Cordelia Burn Bayhead Yacht Club / VMG Racing Sarah Moeder Dana Haig Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club / LISOT Josh Zeelander Danny Hughes Coral Reef Yacht Club Mateo Farina Justin Callahan VMG Racing/ Outfit Sailing Mitchell Callahan Justin Lim Peninsula Youth Sailing Foundation Amir
