We are familiar with the term from the worlds of computer games and sports. Those who have reached a certain level there often move on to the next level right away. This also applies to our work in automotive development: We cannot rest on our laurels. We see this in trends such as artificial intelligence, the use of game engines in vehicle development and future E/E architectures, which we examine in the title series. They exemplify the increasing complexity of our work. We also have to reach the next level in our methods. In his article, Marius Mihailovici, Managing Director of our digital branch in Cluj, explains what this looks like in the software development sector. -

New Porsche Products at the IAA Porsche Is Presenting Eight New Products at the 68Th International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt Am Main Which Starts Today
newsroom Products Sep 10, 2019 New Porsche products at the IAA Porsche is presenting eight new products at the 68th International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt am Main which starts today. The focus at the IAA will be on the brand’s first all-electric sports car, the Taycan Turbo and Turbo S. “The Taycan redefines Porsche,” says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG: “Our goal was to herald the era of electromobility for Porsche with the sportiest, most innovative and most emotionally charged vehicle. The Taycan embodies all our values. The experience from more than 70 years of manufacturing sports cars.” The new Taycan To coincide with the start of the motor show, there are also new additions to the 911 family. The all-wheel-drive models 911 Carrera 4 Coupé and 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet with 283 kW (385 PS; 911 Carrera 4 models: combined fuel consumption 9.2 l/100 km, CO2 Page 1 of 5 emissions 211-210 g/km) now extend the product range of the standard 911 model. This is just as true for engineering services by Porsche as it is for the sports car manufacturer Porsche. Since the founding of the Porsche engineering office 90 years ago, we have dedicated ourselves to technical challenges with passion and inventiveness. Our aim is always to develop the innovations of tomorrow. What Ferdinand Porsche began with pioneering work such as the Volkswagen, we are carrying forward today with the development of technologies for the intelligent and connected vehicle of the future. In the process, we pay close attention to specific market requirements for digital functions. Hence the theme of the current issue of our magazine: "Intelligent. Connected. Digital". Our report on the Big Data Loop shows the potential that artificial intelligence holds in store for new driving functions. Learning in the cloud will make it possible to optimize driving functions largely auto- matically even after a vehicle has been delivered, thus offering customers added value. What we were able to demonstrate in the proof of concept using the example of adaptive cruise control will be of interest for many other driving functions as well. The Big Data Loop is also a good example of the increasing importance of connectivity.
