The University is located at Napaam, about 15 km east of Tezpur town in the Sonitpur District of Assam. The serene and green University Campus of about 262 acres provides an excellent ambience including modern infrastructure conducive for learning and dedicated research. The academic programmes, offered in the University, have a distinct focus on Science, Technology, Management, Humanities, and Social Sciences, reflecting the objectives of the University. At present, the University offers a number of Programmes of Under-Graduate Degree/Diploma/Certificate, Integrated Programmes, Post-Graduate Degree/Diploma and Doctor of Philosophy Degree in various Disciplines. The University offers Add-on courses on Yoga and Violin too. During the last 25 years of its existence, the University has engaged itself in the process of capacity building, both in terms of infrastructure and human resource development.

Sir/Madam, Kindly find enclosed a copy of letter sent by Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (Ministry of Labour, Govt. oflndia) Ref. No. NE/Imp/Enf/Cov/213 dated 17th July, 2020 on the cited subject. As per letter, a good number of private schools in Manipur have already been covered under the purview of the Employees' Provident Funds & Miscellaneous Provision Act, 1952 for social security benefits of its employees. At the same time some of the private schools are disobeying mandatory provisions of the Act which may be intentional or otherwise. Therefore , all the Zonal Education Officers are requested to look into the matter so as to bring all remaining private school to make mandatory provision of the EPF & MP Act, 1952.     P R E F A C E The ‘Economic Survey, Manipur, 2016-17’ presents a broad analysis of the latest economic situation of the state based on performance appraisal data collected from various sources. It is the 21st issue of the series. The salient feature of the State’s economy is briefly discussed in Part-I and supporting statistical tables are presented in Part-II. Some of the chapters/tables have been modified in the present issue on the basis of the data-base made available by the different Agencies/Departments. The district level data presented herein relates to the 9 (Nine) Districts which existed before the creation of the new 7 (Seven) Districts in December, 2016. Certain information are depicted in the form of charts. It is hoped that with the active co-operation of different Organisations/Departments, the Directorate will be able to make improvements in the quality and contents of the publication in its future issues. The co-operation and help extended spontaneously by different Departments of the Government, local bodies and private institutions are gratefully acknowledged. I also appreciate all the officers and staff of the Economic Analysis (EA) and Coordination and Publications (CoP) Units of the Directorate for their untiring efforts put in for preparation of the current issue of the publication. This study attempts to track the issues concerning the land rights of various people in the state and the ethnic conflict surrounding it and attempts to identify land issues that are leading to ethnic conflict in Manipur and tries to address the issue of conflict and make suggestions thereof. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India provides fund for development of infrastructure such as land development, power supply, roads, fencing etc. whereas NEC provides funds for construction of work sheds. Prior to 2017-18, only the Industrial Estate at Takyelpat in Imphal West District was functional. With the guidance of the new Government, more efforts were made and construction of two Industrial Estates of Bishnupur District at Tera Urak and that of Thoubal District at Kuraopokpi have been completed and commissioned during September 2017 and January 2018 respectively. There are 27 Nos. of Worksheds in each of the Industrial Estates. In addition, construction of Industrial Estates at Chandel, Ukhrul and Churachandpur districts have been started while the required lands have been acquired in the districts of Imphal East, Senapati and Tamenglong. Funding pattern in respect of MSME and that of State Government is 80:20 while that of NEC is 90:10. The result revealed that the environmental attitudes of the geography teachers in the district are very high.
