The British Museum International Training Programme 2011 Introduction Hubei Provincial Museum ChenChen ChunChun Wuhan the capital city of Hubei Province in the central area of China. the Yangtze River, the third longest river of the world, goes through the city. Wuhan city ● On My Own Institution · Hubei Provincial Museum was founded in 1953. ·It covers a total area of about 82000 square meters with its exhibition halls of about 13500 square meters. ● Institution · It possesses a collection of more than 260,000 pieces of cultural heritages. · Skull Fossils in Yun County, Chime Bells of Zenghou Yi, Sword of Goujian and Blue-and-White Plum Vase with Four Affection Pictures of Yuan Dynasty are the most significant ones among them. ● Institution · About 1.4 million people visit the museum every year. · In 2007, Hubei Provincial Museum took the lead to open free permanently in China. Mr. Henry Alfred Kissinger visited Hubei Provincial Museum in 1998 ● Institution · There are 12 exhibitions showed in various exhibition halls. · A concert hall with the performance of Chime Bells. 1st floor 2nd floor 3rd floor ● Institution Ⅰ. Exhibition of Marquis Yi Tomb · The owner of the tomb is Zeng Hou yi. He was the Marquis of Zeng State about 2400 years ago. ● Institution The owner’s coffin included the outer coffin and the inner coffin. This outer coffin is the largest bronze-framed wooden coffin has been discovered in China. ● Institution The Chime Bells of Zeng Hou Yi is the famous cultural heritage. It is the earliest large-scale instrument group of China. This discovery is one of the most important archaeological achievement in China. ● Institution Although these bells were buried in the earth for more than 2400 years, they can still be played the Chinese and Western, ancient and modern music after unearthed. Each bell is able to produce two tones. ● Institution Ⅱ. Exhibition of Jiuliandun Tomb No.1 & No.2 · There are various ritual vessels, musical instruments, lacquer wares, jades and chariots excavated from the tombs in 2002. ● Institution · The two tombs belong to a couple of high-rank noble of Chu state about 2300 years ago. Exhibition of the Tomb of Prince Liangzhuangwang · The Prince Liangzhuangwang was the ninth son of Ming Emperor RenZong and was the second prince-state at Zhongxiang in the Ming Dynasty. ● Institution With its inscription that means the gold were brought from the Western Sea area and so on in 1419, the gold ingot becomes an important evidence for the navigation of Zheng He during the Ming Dynasty. Gold ingot ● On my job I am in charge of the collection, storage and exhibition of cultural relics in our museum. ● job Handed over the collection with the staff of Art Gallery of New South Wales of Australian in May 2011. ● job My research interest is the Chinese ancient jade article and lacquer ware. ● job I give a lesson of practical training for the students from China University of Geosciences every year.
