Wuhan Tourism Wuhan Tourism The Imposing Yellow Crane Tower Located on the top of Snake Hill, the Yellow Crane Tower stands against Wuchang, faces the vast Yangtze River and the elegant Qingchuan Pavilion. Ascending the tower, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Wuhan. Thanks to its unique geological location, and the poems, proses, couplets and folk stories, the Yellow Crane Tower is reputed as one of the “three famous towers south of the Yangtze River”. It enjoys such titles as “best scenery under heaven” and “the first tower under heaven” " Eyes of the City - East Lake Lakes, the eyes of a city, represent the past, present and future of a city, embody everything of a city: culture and economy etc. The East Lake is a lake boasting a long history and deep-rooted culture. The East Lake is fresh, dignified, natural, elegant, simple but magnificent, which forms a harmonious artistic space. Here, you can listen to the sound of wind and rain, or sing loudly in the wind or drink to your heart’s content, or talk over past and present with your friends, or chant poems and admire paintings, or taste tea and meditate. The East Lake is a hundred-year-old dream of the city. We wish that the dream wouldn’t be swallowed by the bustle and vanity of the city. " Guiyuan Temple Guiyuan Temple is located on Cuiwei Street of Hanyang District in Wuhan,Hubei Province. It’s one of rthe most famous Buddhist temples in China. The temple was constructed in the early Qing Dynasty by two monks named Baiguang and Zhufeng. They built it at the base of Sunflower Garden. Its name “Giyuan” means “to return to the original purity”. The name originated from a Buddhist chant, “with purity kept in mind, one has the thoroughfare everywhere.” Guiyuan Temple has long been a place of interest for tourists.during the past ten years,it has become famous both at home and abroad for its perfect architecture, rich collection of Buddhist sutra, and 500 Arhats statues. " " Hubei Provincial Museum A specific piece of good and the history can represent the depth and connotation of a city. For a city which is as vigorous as Wuhan, the charm lies in its combination of the new and old. Let's walk into the world of culture via Hubei Provincial Museum, the eyes of Wuhan. Usually we are not willing to visit museum because we don't have the right mood. At the sight of the bronze ware, lacquer ware, golden and jade articles, we look dignified because these goods represent the culture of Hubei province. The plate, bronze ware featuring deer and crane etc; All these witness the culture of Hubei province and the history of Wuhan. They are worth admiring and flaunting. Beautiful Riverside The riverside which integrates flood control, scenery, tour, leisure and sports into a whole and which harmonizes human and nature, the city and the river has become a brilliant pearl of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Of all the water scenes of Wuhan, Hankou’s riverside is the most beautiful. In the early morning, you can run or do exercises at the riverside. At dusk, you can stroll around the riverside with your family. As the night falls, the lights of buildings add radiance and beauty to each other. The scroll of life has been unfolded! .

  • Evaluation of the Fairness of Urban Lakes' Distribution Based On
International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health Article Evaluation of the Fairness of Urban Lakes’ Distribution Based on Spatialization of Population Data: A Case Study of Wuhan Urban Development Zone Jing Wu *, Shen Yang y and Xu Zhang y School of Urban Design, Wuhan University, Wuhan 430072, China; 2016301120042@whu.edu.cn (S.Y.); 2016301530004@whu.edu.cn (X.Z.) * Correspondence: jing.wu@whu.edu.cn These authors contributed equally to the research. y Received: 14 November 2019; Accepted: 4 December 2019; Published: 8 December 2019 Abstract: Lake reclamation for urban construction has caused serious damage to lakes in cities undergoing rapid urbanization. This process affects urban ecological environment and leads to inconsistent urban expansion, population surge, and uneven distribution of urban lakes. This study measured the fairness of urban lakes’ distribution and explored the spatial matching relationship between service supply and user group demand. The interpretation and analysis of Wuhan’s remote sensing images, population, administrative area, traffic network, and other data in 2018 were used as the basis. Specifically, the spatial distribution pattern and fairness of lakes’ distribution in Wuhan urban development zone were investigated. This study establishes a geographic weighted regression (GWR) model of land cover types and population data based on a spatialization method of population data based on land use, and uses population spatial data and network accessibility analysis results to evaluate lake service levels in the study area. Macroscopically, the correlation analysis of sequence variables and Gini coefficient analysis method are used to measure the fairness of the Wuhan lake distribution problem and equilibrium degree, and the location entropy analysis is used to quantitatively analyze the fairness of lakes and Wuhan streets from the perspective of supply and demand location entropy.

  • Week 5 Report (July 2 – July 8) Prepared By: Zachary Parra
US-China Collaboration on Landslide Research and Student Training Week 5 Report (July 2 – July 8) Prepared By: Zachary Parra Week 5 marked the conclusion of the two-week Chinese Language and Culture class at China University of Geosciences in Wuhan. It also marks the beginning of the students’ time in Zigui. July 2 Today, under the guidance of several China University of Geosciences (CUG) volunteers, University of Houston students visited several well-known destinations throughout Wuhan. In the morning, students visited the Yellow Crane Tower located on the eastern bank of the Yangtze River. The Yellow Crane Tower has existed in several forms since AD 223. Its current state, rebuilt in 1981, offers stunning views of Wuhan in all directions. For lunch, the group traveled to Hubuxiang, a famous walking food street in the city. Upon finishing lunch at Hubuxiang, the group proceeded to take a local ferry across the Yangtze River in order to get to Hankou. Hankou is home to the longest walking-commercial street in all of China, Jianghan Road. Here, students were able to explore the wide variety of Chinese and international commercial business and break for dinner. Lastly, the students returned back to the CUG campus via subway. Overall, the day was full of scenic sites and memories. The only regret is that the day-lasting overcast prevented ideal photograph conditions! (Left) Group photograph taken in front of the Yellow Crane Tower. (Right) Beautiful painted mural displayed on the ground floor of the Yellow Crane Tower. Panoramic photograph taken atop the Yellow Crane Tower facing westward toward the Yangtze River and Hankou.
