Eight people, including seven children between the ages of 8 months and 9 years, died in a 4:45 a.m. fire Sunday at 1186 Cussewago Terrace. Sixty volunteer firefighters from Vernon Central, Vernon Township and West Mead 1 Volunteer Fire Departments re- sponded to the call, and took an hour to bring the fire under control. Hughes said autopsies were not performed, but cause of death was determined by labor- atory studies of blood samples taken from the deceased. Hughes said the Baileys and the Onesky child were being cared for overnight at the house.
