NO POINTS IN ORDER TO KEEP OVERALL SCORES FAIR. WOOD CHOPPING 1. Eye protection required 2. No restrictions are placed on type and size of axe 3. Chopping Blocks will be provided (First come first serve) LOG ROLLING CONTEST 1. Eye protection required. 2. Two-person team must propel a log resting against two stakes in the ground a distance of 30 feet to a second set of stakes using cant hooks or peavey’s only. The log must contact both stakes at the far end of the field at the same time and must then come to rest against the first pair to finish. No hands and feet may be used. TWO-PERSON CROSSCUT SAW CONTEST 1. Eye protection required. 2. One cut down a 8”x 8” square log 3. Divisions are Men /Women/ Jack & Jill WOOD SPLITTING CONTEST 1. Eye protection required. 2. Each contestant will be given three or four pieces of wood, each approximately 2’ long, with a 3” dot painted in the center. Each piece must be split into 4 pieces, each having a portion of the dot on it. 3. Contestants will supply their own splitting mauls. No restrictions will be placed on the design of the maul AXE THROWING CONTEST 1. Eye protection required. 2. One practice and Three throws for scoring CHAINSAW CONTESTS 1. Eye protection, hardhat, and chaps required. 2. There will be three classes: a. Small Class 0 to 3.5 CI b. Medium Class 3.6 to 4.7 CI c. Large Class 4.8 and above. No Hot Saws Allowed 3. Men’s Division a. Saws will be running on the ground with hands on log b. Three cuts Down/Up/Down 4. Women’s Division a. Saws will be running on the ground with hands on log b. Three cuts all Down 5. Due to safety reasons there will be no sharing in large class saw (for men & women) If you do not bring a large saw, do not sign up for this class. LOG FELLED CONTEST 1. Eye protection required, hardhat, and chaps required 2. There will be 10 Competitors 3. Top 5 point scorers and 5 men form medium and large saw class are to fell a tree trying to hit a balloon filled with chalk 4. Saws are running and time will start when saw hits the wood All Contestants must be 18 or older to compete and must sign a waiver form. RULES 1. Pre-Registration for hand events by the first Saturday in August. 2. All Registrations $25.00 US FUNDS (NON-REFUNDABLE FEE) – Make check payable to: WINDSOR FAIR 3. Only the first 55 registrations will be accepted. 4. Check-in and numbers for hand events must be picked up by 8:45 a. m. on Monday. 5. Hand event contestants will meet in arena at 9:15 a.m. with Judge. Events will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. 6. Minimum age – 17 years old with previous experience competing in hand events. 7. Wood burning efficiency is best when moisture is less than 20% and higher moisture levels reduce the ease and efficiency of burning. Moisture in wood reduces heat output because much of the energy is used to burn off the water in the wood. The burning process with wet wood produces smoke that contains soot which causes deposits Figure 1.
