Summer is a great time to sit down and read a good book! This year’s summer reading assignment for English 8 is an excerpt from the novel MAUS by . You must read the excerpt and ​ ​ ​ ​ answer EVERY question on this packet. You may either handwrite or type your answers – your ​ ​ choice! Packets can be found on the Barton website if you want to type your answers. Each question MUST be answered in complete sentences unless stated otherwise. ​

Excerpt from MAUS by Art Spiegelman ​ ​ ​(From: Pearsonrealize.com Student Edition) Spiegelman tells the story of his parents, Vladek and Anja Spiegelman, who survived . At the start of this excerpt, Vladek and Anja are living in hiding with Mrs. Motonowa, whose husband does not know she is hiding Jews. They arrange a meeting with smugglers at the house of a woman named Mrs. Kawaka to discuss plans to be smuggled out of Poland.
