SCHOLARSHIP CHALLENGE GRANT Thanks to two matching challenge grants from the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Fund, friends of Portland State University have an opportunity to help support students through scholarships and to increase the impact of their gifts. • Your gift to the President’s Equal Access Scholarship Fund will be matched up to a total of $100,000. Through Equal Access Scholarships, PSU attracts outstanding students of diverse backgrounds and experiences, including racial and ethnic backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Equal Access Scholars maintain good academic standing, contribute to the learning environment and share their unique strengths and diverse perspectives through campus activities and community service. • Your gift to the Maybelle Clark Macdonald Endowed Scholarship Fund in the School of Social Work will be matched up to a total of $50,000. This fund supports social work master’s degree students. Mrs. Macdonald supported the needs of women and children throughout her life. As the only public school of social work in Oregon, PSU’s School of Social Work is a perfect fit for her legacy. With a mission of access and excellence in education, Portland State University has identified scholarships as one of its top fundraising priorities. A college degree is a prerequisite for many careers yet is increasingly difficult to afford. With public funds declining, students and their families shoulder the cost. Nearly half of all PSU students are the first in their family to attend college and 59 percent of all students qualify for and and receive financial aid. PSU seeks to attract, retain, and graduate qualified students who will contribute to the economic success of the community. Scholarships help achieve this goal. You can support PSU students while increasing the impact of your gift.
