Kiwanis Club of Pasadena E-Newsletter July 6, 2021 Meetings – Kiwanis (Zoom only) meeting, July 8h from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM – Captain “Sully” Sullenberger (Part II) was the keynote speaker at the Kiwanis International Convention on June 24th – we will show his keynote address – “"Courage can be contagious... Courage is doing the right thing even when it's not convenient." Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger became internationally renowned on January 15, 2009, when he and his crew safely guided US Airways Flight 1549 to an emergency water landing in New York City’s frigid Hudson River. The plane’s two engines had lost thrust following a bird strike. Everyone survived with only a few minor injuries. Sullenberger and his crew received international acclaim for their “Miracle on the Hudson,” including the passage of a Congressional resolution recognizing their bravery. Sullenberger was ranked second in Time magazine’s “Top 100 Most Influential Heroes and Icons of 2009” and was awarded the French Legion of Honour. Sullenberger is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of “Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters” and also wrote “Making a Difference: Stories of Vision and Courage from America’s Leaders.” Clint Eastwood directed the 2016 major motion picture about Sullenberger’s life, titled “Sully.” Tom Hanks starred in the lead role. Sullenberger is an expert in innovation in the face of disaster. He will speak to Kiwanians and CKI members on Thursday, June 24, about leadership and preparedness, particularly in times of change and challenge. He will empower you to reach new levels of excellence as a Kiwanis captain Join Zoom Meeting https://zoom.us/j/3292045590?pwd=RE9ubllra29HOVIwK2t1dThTeEtyZz09 Meeting ID: 329 204 5590 Password: 329204 Dial by your location +1 669 900 9128 US Invite Prospective members & guests to web meetings University Club of Pasadena – Protocols Put on a mask before arriving at the Club.
