FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Aug. 23, 2019 FREEDOM FEST AT THE LAKE SET FOR SUNDAY, SEPT. 1 IN LAKETOWN Kenner, LA. – The 3rd annual Freedom Fest at the Lake, a daylong free event featuring world-class country music performers and delicious Louisiana cuisine and crafts, is just nine days away. The festival, on Sunday, Sept. 1 during the Labor Day weekend, celebrates our country’s workers in a beautiful setting in Laketown on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. and the fest will begin at 4:30 p.m. with Kenner native Jenna Hunts performing the National Anthem and her new hit single, “Real.” At 5:15 p.m., popular actor and country music singer John Schneider, who was Bo Duke in “The Dukes of Hazzard” TV show and is currently starring in “The Haves and the Have Nots,” takes the stage. Schneider has topped the country music charts four times and put out 19 albums in his career so far. The Canadian duo High Valley performs beginning at 6:15 p.m. Brad and Curtis Rempel are rising stars and released their latest single earlier this year, “Single Man”, in advance of their upcoming fifth album. The headliner, country music superstar Clint Black, takes the stage at 7:45 p.m. He started his career with five consecutive No. 1 singles from his triple-platinum debut album “Killin’ Time,” released 30 years ago. The Grammy-award winner has sold more than 20 million records and had more than three dozen chart hits, from “A Better Man,” and “When My Ship Comes in,” to “Like the Rain” and “Nothing But the Taillights.” Freedom Fest ends with a fireworks show, which will begin following Clint Black’s performance, at about 9 p.m. Download the City of Kenner’s Mobile App, FREE through your device app store.
