Music DVD Review: Marillion - Somewhere In London http://blogcritics.org/archives/2008/08/03/185057.php Blogcritics is an online magazine, a community of writers and readers from around the globe. Publisher: Eric Olsen REVIEW Music DVD Review: Marillion - Somewhere In London Written by Paul Roy Published August 03, 2008 It's hard to keep up with a band who releases as prolific amount of material as Marillion does. They have managed to put out something new every year since their 1983 debut, Script for a Jester's Tear, whether it be a new studio album, a new live album, a new compilation album, a new concert DVD, or one of their many fan club releases. I last checked in on the Marillion camp when I reviewed their excellent 2005 concert DVD, Marbles On The Road, and I figured I was past due to check in on them again. I have not had a chance to pick up their latest album, last year's Somewhere Else, yet, but this new concert DVD covers every song from that album in one form or another. Somewhere In London was filmed over the final two nights of Marillion's Somewhere Else tour at The Forum, Kentish Town, London, on the 15th and 16th of June 2007. The band performed 22 different songs between the two shows, and every single one of them was included on this teeming two-disk set. Disk one includes the feature-length concert film, and disk two contains seven other songs that were also performed during the two shows, along with some other great special features.

DPRP : COUNTING OUT TIME Back to COT index DPRP main page MARILLION - Brave Staring out over the bridge A million photo flashes from the water down below Dawn light bouncing through the mist Roar of traffic and the crack of police radios When they ask her name Would she please explain She simply chooses to say ... nothing Life after Fish When frontman Fish left the band in 1988, Marillion stood for the difficult task of finding an equal replacement. During the rest of 1988 and the beginning of 1989 they continued song writing with bass-player Pete Trewavas on vocals, while the lyrics for their new compositions came from writer John Helmer, they even played a few gigs in this four-men line-up. During the writing process they were however also holding auditions for new vocalists (among which were Galahad's Stuart Nicholson and Cyan's Nigel Voyle). Eventually their choice fell on the eccentric Steve Hogarth, a fairly unknown singer / songwriter / keyboard player who had previously played in eighties' bands The Europeans and How We Live. The band had realised that their only way forward without Fish would be with a lead singer who would in no way be trying to copy the two-meters- high Scot. But of course the 5'2" Hogarth was not only chosen for his height; his musical abilities would surely add to the Marillion compositions as well. The first post-Fish album Seasons End, was musically a natural follow up to Clutching at Straws, but many fans had to get used to Hogarth's voice, which was entirely different from Fish's.

The Ultimate Playlist This list comprises more than 3000 songs (song titles), which have been released between 1931 and 2021, either as a single or as a track of an album. However, one has to keep in mind that more than 300000 songs have been listed in music charts worldwide since the beginning of the 20th century [web: http://tsort.info/music/charts.htm]. Therefore, the present selection of songs is obviously solely a small and subjective cross-section of the most successful songs in the history of modern music. • Marillion.
