Division I Moves to Four Regions 2016 OHSAA Playoffs At its April meeting, the Ohio High School Athletic November 4: Regional Quarterfinals Association Board of Directors voted unanimously 7:30p Divisions I, II, IV, VI to change the playoff format in Division I, beginning November 5: Regional Quarterfinals with the 2016 season. The regional alignment in 7:00p Divisions III, V, VII Division I will now be the same as Divisions II-VII, in November 11: Regional Semifinals that, each division is split into four regions, and the 7:30p Divisions I, II, IV, VI top eight teams in each region will advance to the November 12: Regional Semifinals post season. OHSAA Assistant Commissioner Beau 7:00p Divisions III, V, VII Rugg commented that moving to four regions in Division I is a great decision. “First and foremost, it November 18: Regional Finals cuts down significantly on travel, especially in the 7:30p Divisions I, II, IV, VI first round. It also allows Division I to go back to November 19: Regional Finals having a true regional championship game in the 7:00p Divisions III, V, VII third round, followed by the state semifinals.” In November 25: State Semifinals 2013, the OHSAA created an additional football 7:30p Divisions I, II, IV, VI division and put the largest 72 schools in Ohio into November 26: State Semifinals Division I, but only created two regions in the divi- 7:00p Divisions III, V, VII
