Marcus Lamb, Founder and President of Daystar Television Network
Marcus Lamb, Founder and President of Daystar Television Network Marcus Lamb, founder and president of Daystar Television Network, was born October 7, 1957 in Cordele, Georgia and raised in Macon, Georgia. At the age of 15, in the summer of 1973, he began preaching as an evangelist. Upon skipping his senior year of high school in 1974, at the age of 16, Marcus enrolled in Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee on a full scholarship. At age 19, he began his final senior semester at the private liberal arts school and graduated Magna Cum Laude. In December of 1981, Marcus Lamb founded Word of God Fellowship in Macon. He married Joni Trammell of Greenville, South Carolina in 1982, and she began to travel full time with him as they ministered in more than 20 states. As an evangelist, Marcus quoted so many scriptures in his sermons that many began referring to him as the “Walking Bible.” While on a trip to Israel in 1983, God spoke to Marcus Lamb and told him to found a Christian television station in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1985, Marcus built WMCF-TV, “45 Alive,” in Montgomery. It was the first Christian TV station in the state, and Marcus was the youngest person in the country to build a full power television station. In 1990, the Lambs moved to Dallas, Texas, to build KMPX-TV 29. Through a series of miracles and divine favor, TV 29 went on the air full power in September of 1993. Daystar Television Network officially launched in 1997 with a live broadcast of T.D. -

AUSTRALIAN JOINT COPYING PROJECT DAVID SAMWELL Journal, 1776-79 Reel M1583 The British Library Great Russell Street London WC1B 3DG National Library of Australia State Library of New South Wales Filmed: 1982 BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE David Samwell (1751-1798) was born in Nantglyn in north Wales, where his father was the vicar. He was educated at one of the local grammar schools, probably Ruthin. In 1775 he gained his certificate as a second mate from the Court of Examiners at the Royal College of Surgeons. He was apprenticed to John Crosier, who had been surgeon on HMS Dolphin on its Pacific voyage in 1764-66. In 1776 Crosier secured Samwell’s appointment as surgeon’s mate on HMS Resolution, commanded by James Cook. Following the death of the Surgeon William Anderson in August 1778, Cook promoted Samwell to the position of surgeon on HMS Discovery, commanded by Charles Clerke. Both Cook and Clerke died in 1779 and Lieutenant James King commanded HMS Discovery on the return voyage to England in 1780. Samwell served under King on HMS Crocodile in 1780-81 and later on HMS Kite. He retired on half- pay in 1786 and established a medical practice in London. He had provided some assistance to King on the publication of the official account of Cook’s third voyage. In 1786, encouraged by Andrew Kippis, he published A narrative of the death of Captain James Cook, much of which was incorporated in the major biography published by Kippis in 1788. Samwell returned to sea in 1793 on the outbreak of war with France and served on HMS Marlborough and HMS Unicorn. -

In this paper, the specific attenuation due to rain is computed using different total cross section models, while the raindrop size distribution is characterised for different rain regimes in the frequency range between 1 and 100 GHz. The Method of Moments is used to model raindrop size distributions, while different extinction coefficients are used to compute the specific rain attenuation. Comparison of theoretical results of the existing models and the proposed models against experimental outcomes for horizontal and vertical polarizations at different rain rates are presented.
