The Park occupies a spectacular elevated position, commanding stunning views from all pitches, whether you visit us in a tourer, tent or purchase one of our quality holiday homes. Places of interest include: * Llanrhaeadr waterfall - one of the seven wonders of Wales * Pennant Melangell Church * Snowdonia National Park * Lake Vyrnwy - walks, bird watching, wood sculptures * Bala Lake - water sports, narrow gauge railway * Powis Castle * Llanfair Narrow Gauge Railway * Llangollen * Chester * Golf courses at Oswestry, Llanymynech and Bala There is fishing in the river Tanat, which forms one boundary of the park, as well as bird watching and, thanks to low light pollution, stargazing. Locally, there are excell ent walks for all levels of fitness from a gentle village trail to a more energetic hike. The public footpath can be joined almost directly from the park. The village of Llangynog is just five minutes walk away where there are two pubs both serving meals. The unhurried pace of life makes Henstent the perfect choice for a peaceful and relaxing break. All our holiday homes are privately owned, well spaced and connected to all services. An eleven month season means that you can escape and unwind whenever you want to. Seasonal touring pitches are also available. In accordance with Section 55(2) of the Act Powys County Council submitted a report to the Commission detailing their proposals for changes to a number of community boundaries in their area (Appendix A). 1.2 We have considered Powys County Council’s report in accordance with Section 55(3) of the Act and submit the following report on the Council’s recommendations. 2. Members of the Community are encouraged to support this venture, which is being provided for the benefit of all. Remember, hard copies of the newsletter will still be available for collection from the Post Office. Outstanding Roadworks: Community Councillor John Jones advised that he had not been contacted by the Highways Department about the potholes on Quarry Road but they had advised by E-mail that some of the previous patches were breaking up and will be renewed. The warning bollards on the verge at the brow of the hill by Bryn Glas, have since been installed. Tender for Grass Cutting – Season 2014: Only one tender had been received by the deadline, which was considered excessive and it was resolved to refer it back to the tenderer for clarification. One Voice Wales: The Clerk advised that acknowledgement of membership renewal had been received. Any Other Business: Temporary Closure of Post Office: Both our County Councillor Darren Mayor and Assembly Member Russell George had written to the Post Office Consultation Team requesting assurances that the Sub Post Office in Llangynog would not be closed permanently and requesting details of what arrangements were being made to keep it open after 28th April. They have replied to say they are committed to operating a service in this area for customers in Llangynog and have given an assurance that any closure will be viewed as temporary and will be kept to an absolute minimum.

MINUTES C220 - 2015 The Leader was authorised to sign the minutes of the last meeting held on 10th November 2015 as a correct record. 3. DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST C221 - 2015 There were no declarations of interest reported. 4. COUNCIL TAX BASE FOR 2016-2017 C222 - 2015 Cabinet considered the Council Tax base for 2016 – 2017. Members were advised that the collection rate for Council Tax was approximately 99% which was the fourth best in Wales. RESOLVED Reason for Decision: 1. That the calculation of the Council To meet the legal requirement of Tax Base for the whole of its area the Council to set a Council Tax for the year 2016/17 of 61,185.66 be Base for 2016-17 approved, 2. That the calculation of the Tax Base for each Town & Community Council as set out below be approved. WELSH MINES SOCIETY Newsletter No. 2 December, 1980. 1 Report of Llangynog Meeting 14 September 1980 - Discussion 30 or 40 members tumed up,and before lunch various matters were mentioned and/or discussed, some being within the body of this Newsletter. The remaining items are given below for the benefit of members not present. (Thanks are due to Mrs. Groucott for typing a report of the discussion.) A Afforestation 'The Guardian' 21 August 1980 carried an announcement referring to 'plans to create something like 5 million acres of new forest over the next three decades' in this country. This incredible policy would blanket out an area equal to the whole of Wales with incalculable damage to I.A. Our member David Palmer has had an interview with the Forestry Commission on damage to I.A. sites, and has offered to raise the planting proposals with the Association of Industrial Archaeology. The Industrial Monuments Survey is also, I believe, generally involved, and we await with interest a report from David on the position. B Lists of Historic Mine Sites Chris Williams has already provided a list of sites in Gwynedd & Clwyd to the local authorities and has offered on behalf of the W.M.S. a similar service to Dyfed & Powys. The latter has responded, and I have prepared a list which is currently with Chris for annotation and typing. It should be with the Powys Planning Authority before long.
