Tabelle zeigt dir, welche Distanz (km), geschätzte Zeit und geschätzten Schritte du (im Durchschnitt, denn die Info ist z.Bsp., von deiner Größe & Schrittlänge abhängig!) brauchen würdest, um die Strecke zu Fuß zurückzulegen. There is convenient public transport, though. When you leave the baggage claim area and enter the arrivals hall turn right and follow the arrow in the direction taxi, bus, city airport train (CAT) and S-Bahn/ train. By Train You can buy tickets at the information booth in the arrivals hall of the airport. Alternatively you find several ticket machines next to the platform. Please note that the red one is for S-Bahn (cheap and easy option) and the green one for CAT. The Schnellbahn (S-Bahn) S1 or S7 will bring you to “Praterstern”. Here you change to the subway line U2 (purple) in the direction “Seestadt” or “Aspernstraße” and get off after one stop at “Messe-Prater”. The S1/S7 from the airport runs daily between 04:48 and 00:18, every 30 minutes. The journey to “Praterstern” has 8 stops in between and takes about 30 minutes.

Marquette University, [email protected] Preface While doing research in Vienna for my dissertation on relations between Church and State in Austria between the wars I became intrigued by the outward appearance of the public housing projects put up by Red Vienna at the same time. They seemed to have a martial cast to them not at all restricted to the famous Karl-Marx-Hof so, against advice that I would find nothing, I decided to see what could be found in the archives of the Stadtbauamt to tie the architecture of the program to the civil war of 1934 when the structures became the principal focus of conflict. I found no direct tie anywhere in the documents but uncovered some circumstantial evidence that might be explored in the future. One reason for publishing these notes is to save researchers from the same dead end I ran into. This is not to say no evidence was ever present because there are many missing documents in the sequence which might turn up in the future—there is more than one complaint to be found about staff members taking documents and not returning them—and the socialists who controlled the records had an interest in denying any connection both before and after the civil war. Certain kinds of records are simply not there including assessments of personnel which are in the files of the Magistratsdirektion not accessible to the public and minutes of most meetings within the various Magistrats Abteilungen connected with the program.

    STEP 2025 URBAN DEVELOPMENT PLAN VIENNA TRUE URBAN SPIRIT FOREWORD STEP 2025 Cities mean change, a constant willingness to face new develop- ments and to be open to innovative solutions. Yet urban planning also means to assume responsibility for coming generations, for the city of the future. At the moment, Vienna is one of the most rapidly growing metropolises in the German-speaking region, and we view this trend as an opportunity. More inhabitants in a city not only entail new challenges, but also greater creativity, more ideas, heightened development potentials. This enhances the importance of Vienna and its region in Central Europe and thus contributes to safeguarding the future of our city. In this context, the new Urban Development Plan STEP 2025 is an instrument that offers timely answers to the questions of our present. The document does not contain concrete indications of what projects will be built, and where, but offers up a vision of a future Vienna.     NEU4 – Umfangreiche Modernisierung der Linie U4 DI (FH) Michael ZEMAN 2 AUSGANGSLAGE • Im Sommer 2012 wurden die Wiener Linien von Frau Vizebürgermeisterin Renate Brauner beauftragt, eine großangelegte U4- Modernisierung zu prüfen. In weiterer Folge wurde von den Wiener Linien eine Machbarkeitsstudie samt Zeit- und Kostenplan für eine Modernisierung der Linie U4 erstellt. • Im Zuge der Erstellung der Machbarkeitsstudie für die U4 - Modernisierung wurden die erforderlichen Sanierungsmaßnahmen gemeinsam mit den zuständigen Fachdienststellen der Erhaltung der Wiener Linien evaluiert und nach ihrer Dringlichkeit klassifiziert. Bereits geplante bzw. genehmigte Erneuerungsprojekte wurden in diese Machbarkeitsstudie aufgenommen. Bei der Terminablaufplanung wurden auch mögliche Synergien für die Realisierung der erforderlichen Maßnahmen ausgearbeitet bzw. berücksichtigt. Am 27. März 2013 wurde diese Machbarkeitsstudie der Geschäftsführung der WL zur weiteren Genehmigung / Abstimmung vorgelegt und in weiterer Folge genehmigt. Primarily through loans to build up the economy and diplomatic pressure, the United States and Great Britain helped to maintain an independent Austrian state and prevent an Anschluss or union with Germany from 1918 to 1934. In addition, this study examines the minority of Austrians who opposed an Anschluss . The three main groups of Austrians that supported independence were the Christian Social Party, monarchists, and some industries and industrialists. These Austrian nationalists cooperated with the Americans and British in sustaining an unwilling Austrian nation. Ultimately, the global depression weakened American and British capacity to practice dollar and pound diplomacy, and the popular appeal of Hitler combined with Nazi Germany’s aggression led to the realization of the Anschluss .
