Directions

Vienna Airport  Conference Venue and Hotel The Vienna International Airport (Schwechat) is situated outside the city area. There is convenient public transport, though. When you leave the baggage claim area and enter the arrivals hall turn right and follow the arrow in the direction taxi, bus, city airport train (CAT) and S-Bahn/ train.

By Train You can buy tickets at the information booth in the arrivals hall of the airport. Alternatively you find several ticket machines next to the platform. Please note that the red one is for S-Bahn (cheap and easy option) and the green one for CAT.

The Schnellbahn (S-Bahn) S1 or S7 will bring you to “Praterstern”. Here you change to the subway line U2 (purple) in the direction “” or “Aspernstraße” and get off after one stop at “Messe-Prater”. The S1/S7 from the airport runs daily between 04:48 and 00:18, every 30 minutes. The journey to “Praterstern” has 8 stops in between and takes about 30 minutes. As the airport is outside the Vienna city limits, you will need a ticket for 2 zones (4.20€ for one adult). Going back to the airport the S1/S7 leaves every 30 minutes between 04:15 until 23:45 from Praterstern.

In case you take the CAT (City Airport Train, www.cityairporttrain.com/en) you will get off at “Wien Mitte/Landstraße”. The CAT from the airport is operating between 06:09 and 23:39, every 30 minutes, travel time is 16 minutes non-stop. One-way tickets cost 12€ (11€) at the CAT terminal (online), round trip tickets 21€ (19€). Going back to the airport the CAT leaves every 30 minutes between 05:37 and 23:07.

By Bus Once an hour the VAL (Vienna Airport Lines, www.viennaairportlines.at/en/), Bus line VAL3, will bring you to “Krieau”. You can purchase your ticket online, directly from the bus driver or at VAL ticket machines (single ticket for 8€, return ticket 13€). At “Krieau” please change to the subway line U2 (direction: “Karlsplatz”) and get off again at the next stop “Messe-Prater”. Use exit “Messe” for the conference venue and exit “Prater” for the hotel. VAL3 from the airport operates hourly between 06:00 and 21:00. The trip takes approximately 23 minutes. Going back to the airport the VAL3 leaves from “Krieau” every hour between 05:17 until 20:17.

Please note that, when changing from the train or bus to the underground or any other kind of public transport you need to buy a ticket for public transport, available at ticket machines (there are single ride tickets, 24h tickets ….).

By Taxi In case you decide for a taxi, you can either book a taxi in the arrival hall at one of the booths (usually a bit cheaper) or approach the taxi rank just outside the airport building. The cost is approximately 40€. Depending on the traffic conditions, the travel time is about 20-30 minutes.

Subway “Messe-Prater”/ “Krieau”  Hotel, Campus WU From the subway station “Messe-Prater” of underground line U2 it is a 1-minute walk straight ahead to the hotel when using exit “Prater”. For the conference venue use exit “Messe” and walk for 3-5 minutes to Campus WU. Exiting from the underground turn right on “Messeplatz”, follow “Messestraße” until you reach the Campus WU on your left-hand side. Enter the Campus WU and continue to building LC, which is on the left hand-side. If you get off from U2 at the stop “Krieau” it is a 7 minutes walk to the conference venue: Using the exit “Krieau” you follow “Trabrennstraße” until you reach the Campus WU on your right hand-side, enter the Campus WU and continue to building LC on your right hand side. Building LC is characterized by its white façade and an overlapping black “ship” on top (see picture on page 1). At the entrance, please follow the signs to “Ceremonial Hall 1”.
