MOTUTAPU ISLAND

The name Motutapu means ‘sacred’ or ‘sanctuary’ in Maori. The island is covered in flora and fauna, whilst still remnants of counter-bombardment battery and other KAWAU ISLAND defense sites can be found. Reid house can be seen at Home Bay which is representative of the colonial history of the island. Described as a “jewel in the crown of the Hauraki Gulf”. WAIHEKE ISLAND

Waiheke is known as ‘island of wine’, home to a group of winegrowers that create world class wines. We plan to experience some wine tasting or walk to Stony Batter gun emplacement and take in the views of the Hauraki Gulf and the Coromandel. We may visit some of the more less accessible parts of this gorgeous island.

TIRITIRI MATANGI

Tiritiri Matangi is a wildlife sanctuary. This island is home to a number of threatened and endangered bird and reptile species, including the native Takahe bird and the reptile Tuatara.

Rangitoto is a volcanic island and is well recognized in City’s skyline.
