A medium-size sign in three parts (no frame) measuring 32" (82cm] across the bar. The station is one of those renowned for water ingress and the sign evidences this with some staining and small signs of corrosion at the edges but is still a very reasonable example. [5] 18 1933 London Underground H C Beck diagrammatic, card POCKET MAP from the first-year 240series titled 'Underground Railways of London'. This is the edition with no print-code, issued c. August 1933. Refers to re-naming of Dover St station to Green Park and the merger of Holborn and British Museum stations, all in September that year. A lightly-used copy with some age-foxing at one fold but overall still a very good example. Produced in laminate, the panel measures 74" x 15" (188cm x 38cm) and is in excellent condition with a suitable, later frame (frame has a few small scuffs). The frame has been painted. [1] 47 c1960s London Transport Underground ENAMEL SIGN 'Buses (across the road) to Cranford,50 Colnbrook, Harlington, Hayes, Slough & Uxbridge'. Believed to have been located at Hounslow West station on the Piccadilly Line and also formerly on the District Line. Measures 51" x 25" (130cm x 64cm) and is in very good condition with a few very small chips to the face. Designed by MacDonald Gill with a blue decorative border and calligraphed station names, the map opens out to 13.5" x 10.5" (34 x 27cm). A very good example with light wear, a little age-darkened. [1] 50 Selection (3) of London Transport Tramways FARECHARTS comprising war-time, single-sided70 paper issue dated October 1941 for routes 44 & 46 and double-sided, card issues for routes 44/46 and 54 dated July 1948 and for routes 36/38 and 44/46 dated October 1950. All are in well-used, ex-tram condition with wear. [1] 54 1912 LCC Tramways wooden PRESENTATION BOWL inscribed "Tramways, LCC Cricket League,80 Clapham Depôt. Presented to A E Porter, Esq, 1912". Measures 9.5" (24cm) across and 6" (15cm) high and is in very good condition. Plus an early 20th century, double-sided brass BADGE 'Omnibus Driver 11' measuring 3.5" (9cm) across and in very good, ex-use condition. [2] 55 Smith's 'Astral' 9ct gold, 17-jewel WRISTWATCH with Swiss movement presented by London75 Transport in 1976 to J R Craig "in appreciation of 30 year's service". James Craig was a driver, then inspector and 'gold badge' inspector. The watch is accompanied by his 37-years SERVICE CERTIFICATE signed by LT's chairman and presented upon Mr Craig's retirement in 1983. The watch is in good cosmetic condition but is not currently working. [2] 56 Pair of London Transport bus stop enamel E-PLATES for route 315 which ran infrequently between50 Hatfield and Kimpton. The first says 'Mon-Fri' and the other 'Special Journeys Only'. Some weathering on the former from a long period in situ, the latter is in good condition. [2] 57 London Transport bus stop enamel E-PLATE for route 315 destinated Welwyn Garden City, 90Ayot Green, Kimpton. We think this would have been located at the Hatfield terminus of this infrequent route and would therefore have been one of a single pair. A little weathered from a long period in situ. [1] 58 1933 London Underground H C Beck diagrammatic, card POCKET MAP from the first-year 170series titled 'Underground Railways of London'. Issued c.September 1933 and has print reference 33-2791. Shows the escalator connection between Bank and Monument stations. In used condition with a little wear and some very small stains but overall still a good example. These badges were slightly larger than the standard supervisory issues and featured laurel leaves inside the ring. The station was re-named Clapham North in 1926 at which stage a bar with the new name was screwed across this sign (see next lot in this sale), hence the damage where the holes were drilled. Measures 62" x 41" (158cm x 104cm). 386 1920s London Underground PLATFORM SIGN (centre bar from a bullseye) from Clapham North90 station on the Northern Line. Likely to date from 1926 when the station was re-named from Clapham Road and the sign has screw-holes for fixing onto the bar over the previous name. After the War, the planned extension did not proceed and Tube trains never ran to the Palace. A double-sided sign with brass ends. In good, ex-car condition, a little careful restoration in places. Designed by MacDonald Gill with his distinctive style of calligraphy and map border, this is the issue dated 1/6/23 and the version thereof which shows the British Empire Exhibition stations with red dots. Generally a very good copy, light foxing spots on the spine and rear cover. The70 phone is a GPO model 332L (lettered dial), introduced in 1937 although the code 'FWW 64' on the base suggests a 1964 manufacture. The '071' number shows that it survived in use into the early 1990s. It is fitted with a current-type plug and dials and rings when plugged into a domestic socket. [1] 428 [Corrected] c1932-33 Metropolitan Railway pocket MAP OF LONDON, the Met's own very280 attractive map of the Underground which highlights their own lines in red and leaves the remainder of the network coloured light blue! The map has print-code M1795/50M and shows the Stanmore line open so will have been issued in late 1932 or early 1933, one of the last before the Met was absorbed into London Transport. In very good condition, no major blemishes. [1] 429 London Underground Central Line 1960-Stock (Cravens prototype) enamel INTERIOR CAR 280NUMBER PLATE from driving motor car 3900, originally numbered 3000. The 12 cars were re-numbered into the 39xx series to avoid duplication with the pre-38 stock when it was decided that no more 1960-stock would be built. This is the original plate with the first '0' overpainted by LT. In very good, ex-car condition, minor chips around the screw-holes. This dates from the short period Nov 1964 - Nov 1965 when the service did not run north of Baker St on Sundays, after that time it no longer ran to Chesham at all. It was probably located from Oxford Circus or Baker Street northwards. A little damage from the runner at the r/h edge, otherwise in very good condition. Measures 26" x 6" (66cm x 15cm) and is in good, ex-use condition with a few minor blemishes. [1] 444 Large-scale MODEL of a London Underground Metropolitan Line A-Stock driving motor car130 and part of its trailer. Believed to have been produced in the early 1990s as a mock-up of the proposed new livery for the refurbished units and which was subsequently adopted. Thought to have been displayed at 55 Broadway for a time. The leading car measures 31 1/2"/80cm long x 6"/15cm wide. A solid model, material unknown but could be a wood & plastic composite. Mounted on a wooden base. In very good, ex-display condition, a few small blemishes. [1] 445 Large-scale MODEL of a London Underground Victoria Line 2009-Stock driving motor car. Produced300 by Bombardier, presumably as a prototype as there are detail differences from the actual cars. A high-quality model with good detail, including a full interior. A low-voltage cable suggests that it may have 12v lights inside but not tested. Measures 32"/81cm long x 5"/13cm wide. Material unknown but appears to be a form of plastic. Mounted on a plinth with a detachable see-through cover. In very good, ex-display condition, some interior fittings are loose. [1] 446 Early 20th-century enamel LONDON STREET SIGN from Ashness Road, SW in Clapham. This160 dates from before the introduction of numbered sub-districts in 1917. Measures 38.5" x 12" (98cm x 31cm). Carries the blemishes of a long period in situ with edge-losses and weathering. An amazing survivor from the earliest days of enamel street signs. The note at Wembley Park re the British Empire Exhibition has been changed by sticker, post-BEE, to 'Exhibition Grounds and Stadium'.
