Dawn was born in Goulburn on January 1st 1945. Dawn was the youngest daughter of Sid and Bessie Williams who lived at “Spring Creek” and “Wattle Flat” down the bottom of the Spa Road before moving to “Bumbumba” at Windellama. Dawn attended Windellama School in 1950 as did her two daughters, Kylie and Lara years later. Dawn and Peter moved from Sydney to Windellama in 1973 to “Thurlimbah”. Memories of Dawn and her community work are many, I hope I can name a few. Dawn was one of the original Windellama Gardwn Club members. Also amongst her many tasks was the school P & C which included a trip to the snow with teachers and parents to help the kids. A very active member of the tennis club and the local fire brigade, Friday games nights were always supported by Dawn and Peter. One memory that comes back is the “thunder box” toilet that was located between the park and the current SES shed, it was very dilapidated, so Dawn decided at a garden club clean up to give it a coat of paint, net there was a multi coloured rainbow with the signature K DONE. It was decided that it would be Keith or Kathy Done who signed it. One of the first books on the history of Windellama, the front cover being illustrated by Dawn. Dawn and other people interviewed some of the older residents for the book. The monument at the front of the hall was also something Dawn had a hand in helping to design. The gold panner is no longer in existence due to being run over by a truck. Dawn was tied up with the Hall Committee (now Progress) Dances changing to Cabarets. The local church, St Bartholomew’s was supported by Dawn and family when the field days began Dawn was there again. Many a trip was had by locals down the Spa Road to Spring Creek and Wattle Flat. In her spare time Dawn kept herself amused doing pottery, macramé gardening and rearing calves to name a few. Haircuts were another talent that Dawn possessed. Dawn and Peter both celebrated their birthdays on 1st January and a wonderful time was had by many locals for days. These are just a few of my personal memories of Dawn.
